A westerner with a sense of the whole world
It is interesting that two of the four whom Jaspers picks for their great philosophical minds are from the East. This is a contrast to contemporary philosophy departments in the US which rarely look to the east of the English channel and certainly never cross the Danube.Jaspers himself is a well respected philosopher and his treatment of his four subjects is both insightful and respectful. The book is thin and cheap, what more can one ask??

Mind condition book
My book club chose this book of essays by the eminent philosopher Karl Jaspers. While most were not familiar with his work and were therefore delighted, I knew the benefits. We had a lively discussion, without rancor. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to dive deeply into the important issues of today.

Great work.
It contains a brief but excellent essay on each personality, I highly recommend it for psychiatrists and psychologists that are fond of existential approaches. This author is a must for anyone into the neuroscience field.

Monumental work, like thunder, like a waterfall that will delight, cool and mesmerize you.
Like a rich piece of cake, Jaspers gives you so much, something that will last a lifetime to read, dwell inside of and read again.

Three Stars
Very basic, not for those who have already have a rudimentary knowledge of these historical figures.

wonderful comparison.
For those who wonder about the intersections of these 'four paradigmatic philosophers' as Karl Jasters calls the, it is an outstanding overview of their lives and philosophies.
