Lack of quality control on subarus part
Zero quality control, massive burrs found in the oil bypass passage. Could have caused pressure release valve to stick open and loose all oil pressure, extremely disappointed .

I installed this on a Subaru EJ253 for a 2007 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. All Subaru oil pumps pretty much are direct replacements and I used this one due to its greater flow rate. I've put 500 miles on the engine since the rebuild and its been fine. I give it a 4:5 because the pump was not primed. I opened it up to double check and noted the lack of assembly lube/oil. Priming the pump helps ensure long life. Also the screws were not thread locked. Subaru oil pumps are known for the screws in the back plate backing out over time causing pump failure. These were easy fixes though.

All I could hope for
Threw this pump on a new motor that now has 1400 miles and runs strong and smooth. This part is a must have for any build or rebuild that has suffered the fate of a spun bearing. Spend money here and save money down the road. This part was packaged well and showed no damage.
