Smoke Black - Nintendo DS Lite Complete Full Housing Shell Case Replacement Repair w/ Hinge Set

Installed this to replace a bad hinge on a DS Lite. The original case lasted several years and lots of drops, and was disassembled once to replace fuses years ago. Installation was tricky, as so many small parts have to be aligned while you screw the case together. I managed to break the power switch during assembly, and had to order a new switch to complete the install. Once installed, the case is cosmetically equal to OEM. Even has the Nintendo logo.Within a week of replacing the case, the DS was dropped from waist height onto hardwood floor. The case broke in one place, a screw mount, and stripped out three other screw mounts. I have reordered the same item, as I accept there is no better case available. I understand it is not customary to blame the manufacturer for customer induced damage, but the OEM case endured a lot more before failure.

This fixed my old DS Lite, which had quite a few scratches and a broken hinge. My only complaint is that the holes were not tapped (threaded), which if you used a real screwdriver instead of the one that came with the box makes it harder to strip the screws. Also, some pieces don't line up 100%, but with some love it all got together.

So when I first ordered this item I never received because of usps crappy service but I contacted Value deluxe and they quickly replied and sent me a new one. They have great service and I know I'll be buying from them again. This case is awesome but I would suggest watching some youtube videos on disassembling and UNPLUG the touch screen because the ribbon could rip while switching cases. over all very happy with this buy.

Well, my DS works perfectly now (the hinge was broken before the replacement), but now the bottom shell is loose. All the screws on this were difficult to tighten, and one of the bottom ones just stopped before it was all the way in. I looked through the conveniently transparent casing, and saw that a piece of plastic was blocking it. When I tried to back out the screw, part of the head broke off. So now the bottom half has a little gap, and it's difficult to fit GBA games in the slot since it's not all the way together.On the other hand, the transparent plastic looks way cooler than the stock white, even if the manufacturing tolerances aren't as tight as the original.

Stripped a screw -very- easily. Shouldn't have risked it, but oh well. Looks so nice. So so nice. Is a shame about the screw, but it was due to my negligence.

This thing looks and feels awesome. All parts were accounted for. A little tricky to get the ds-lite into it so you need to take your time and be sure not to force anything.

When reassembling the shell doesnt line up; it does not completely close up. The screws that came with it are very easy to strip. The buttons are nice, no complaints there. The circuit board just doesnt line up when putting it all back together. Also not threaded so that makes the whole process a bit longer and more tedious. Overall dont recommend, I would happily keep the old shell with two cracked hinges than have a loose fitting shell that makes the whole thing feel like it will fall apart in my hands.
