Pulled a house with it.
Well it was more of a hollowed out trailer, that can be a small house. But this shackle did great. No damage from pulling tons of weight.

Seems well-made and solid. A few scratches on arrival. Difficult to install both washers.
Purchased this as I am building a recovery kit for off-road excursions. Item arrived quickly, though with a couple small scratches, and seems very sturdily made. Very happy that it came with the isolator and washers (separately in the box, not installed) to keep rattle down and that is one of the features that sold me on this set, but it was nearly impossible to get both washers installed due to tight clearance. I eventually had to hit the washers with a light coating of lithium grease to be able to get the shackle to slide on with both washers in place and it was still a struggle even then. No worries about noise from this now, but I know the washers won't go back on when I have to open it to attach a strap during a recovery. The washers aren't doing the recovery though and I think this will do the job just fine if/when I need it. I'll just grease everything up and reinstall at home after any outing where I need to use it. 4 stars as I think it is a very good item. Took the 1 star as with this selling together as a kit I would expect everything to go together more easily. Will update if/when I have to use it.

Lightweight and capable!
Great product, came well-packaged and exactly as described. So my girlfriend and I offroad at a local beach, Freeman Park, and when we received this and our All-Top recovery strap before Christmas we went straight to the beach with the intentions of getting stuck! After a few minutes we were buried to the rails on our 2001 Highlander (V6, AWD. About as heavy as a Jeep or small pickup) and it was time for my girlfriend's first recovery. The hitch receiver was easy to connect and after only a couple minutes she was pulling our Highlander free! Breaking down the receiver was simple and once we rolled up our strap we had our gear in the truck and were off and running again!Hard to beat the price, considering this includes the receiver, bow shackle, and a hitch pin! The coating on the receiver and shackle is strong and seems durable. We had no issues with flaking or chipping. The aluminum receiver is lightweight and fits well into a 2 inch hitch. Getting it on and off of the hitch was a breeze. And the two pin holes allow for side recovery as well as dead-line pulls.I have owned a few of these, one made of hollow tubing with a welded cap and a hook coming out of the middle, and one I machined myself from solid stock (2×2 1045 carbon with heat treat and temper), and this is my favorite so far for its lightweight capability and low cost! I would definitely recommend this for anyone with a hitch and expecting light to medium recovery.

Lightweight Makes A Big Difference!
I lucked into this lightweight aluminum shackle hitch on sale for the price of a steel shackle hitch. I'm so glad I bought it. It's much lighter than steel and plenty strong. I carry this in my 4Runner all the time as part of a fairly extensive recovery system. The weight of all of that stuff really adds up, reducing fuel economy and performance. It's worth the added cost to keep the weight down. The lighter weight is also very welcome when handling this shackle hitch. Needless weight steel parts are so low tech. As an added bonus, the aluminum shackle hitch will never rust. The steel shackle and pin are high quality as well.

ALUMINUM is what sold me! Salt Belt resident and anything and everything will rust!
The media could not be loaded. ALUMINUM ALUMINUM ALUMINUM (*ALLOY - not exactly sure what this means but it's still better than full steel in my book)+ MN Winters = GREAT SUCCESS!Try to find another shackle hitch made of aluminum and you won't have too many competitors available on AmazonInitial thoughts - the hitch shackle is built like a TANK. I can't verify if it's one SOLID piece of metal but from the weight alone that would be my initial assumption. The D-ring is stout and appears to be very well made.D-ring weighs: 2lb 3.8ozThe Hitch itself has holes so you can mount it vertically and horizontally.Hitch weighs: 1lb 11.5 ozTotal: 3lb 15.2ozComes powder coated black, but touch up paint might be required if "Amazon" ships it in a silly bubble envelope like they did with mine (LOL)I probably won't ever have to use it, since I try to avoid situations where I would use recovery gear. But in the case I need it I would trust this product.1 con not related to the seller - amazon packaged this thing in a bubble wrap envelope lol!

Powder coat not great but overall pretty stout
Overall quality product for the price powder coating wasn't great by any means had what looked like smudge marks in it and chips missing that's the only reason I gave it a 4 star otherwise it's a hitch its gonna get dinged up but I wouldn't call it a high quality powder coat as even the shackle pin's coating was coming up first time unthreading it. But like I said it's a tool and should serve its purpose just dont let the paint cause you to spend more for it than other products unless you are just looking for an aesthetic shackle like most jeep owners. The actual hitch portion is quite stout though and looks to be machined from a single piece not welded sections.

It Works
Not long after I purchased this I got my first opportunity to use it in the deer woods. It connected to the hitch without a problem. The latch for the shackle opened easily for the recovery strap. Culminating in my truck being pulled out without any mechanical failure on the shackle and receiver. I rated the light weight five stars not because the receiver is light weight but because the material composition of the receiver is strong enough to perform the task in hand.
