What's the difference between bottom and top mount

A top mount will have screws that bolt the nut down from the top of the neck. A bottom mount will have screws that mount from the reverse side. You will see two screw heads exposed on the side of the neck that faces the player on reverse mount.

The width of the nut is 43mm (1.69") and the radius is 400mm (15.75" approx)

Will this nut work on a left handed guitar?

It won't work well, the slots for the strings are wider on the bass side.
