The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 2: Fandemonium

This did not disappoint being my first graphic novel series read
The Wicked + The Divine Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 and Rat Queens: The Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 were my first graphic novels. Regarding The Wicked + The Divine, the first two volumes read in succession are totally better than most movies in the last 10 years. The first volume hooked me. The second volume totally pulled me into the lore with excellent colour and artwork. (The owner of the book needs to get that artist back asap for the subsequent volumes). I wanted to research and read more about the historical gods the pop star characters portrayed. I heard the rights to a television show has been bought or produced. Amazon really needs to consider grabbing those rights. That ending in volume two.... I didn't see that coming at all. I screamed & cried. Yes, real tears!

Gorgeous art and good story
An interesting look at people's obsession with 'stars' and the toxicity of fandom. More twists to the story of young gods and those who aspire to be their equal. I love this series and can't recommend it enough.

Sorry but... *shrugs*
This one has the same jumbled pace as the first which was irksome. But I was able to get more out of it now that I had understood the construct of the world. Beautiful, but... meh. This is a lot of buildup with a moderate payout. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't gift it. I'd only really recommend it to teenagers or people who enjoy reading about modern interpretations of the gods.

Great story continued
While there were moments where I fell in and out of paying attention, this is still a unique and interesting story. The sequel kept a similar pacing and level of drama as the first, and ended in quite a cliff hanger that does a fantastic job of leaving me wanting more. I'm still having trouble keeping names straight and I haven't found the characters to be quite likable enough to feel an emotional connection, which would make the experienced far better in my opinion. But the story alone makes for a great ride.

This series is one of my favorite, I love the art style and the premise ...
This series is one of my favorite, I love the art style and the premise of the story is very well thought out. There is SOME sexual content in this, but it is not prevalent, it is more of a background, used as a way to describe a character's life style. Everything used in the story has a purpose, whether it is spelled out or used as subtext, there doesn't seem to be anything that isn't relevant. If you feel there is, it usually clicks into place later on in the story and I love writing like that.I feel this story would appeal to many, and if you don't mind "colorful" language, some sexual content, violence, gore, or anything of that nature then you should definitely pick this up.The characters are well written, they're nice round characters and you definitely develop feelings of dislike, sympathy, or indifference for them. This story is unique and keeps you on your toes, I look forward for the next installment.

THE WICKED & THE DIVINE VOL. 2 Fandemonium
I was always interested in the mythical ancient legends of the Gods, this is great because it puts the past in there 90 year return. Also, with the murder mystery I love it, great characters you see as you well get a feeling for whenreading.Great graphics and colonization. A great page Turner!

A fun read.
The story line is new and fascinating. It can be a little confusing at times, but for the most part its great. I would tell anyone that they need to read the first volume before starting this one if they want to have any chance of knowing whats going on. The stories really do build on each other, and they don't make sense if you haven't read what came first.

The mysteries really pile up in this volume and everything ...
The mysteries really pile up in this volume and everything is entertaining. My only minor criticism in the presentation is that the panel layouts don't feel as dynamic as they could be, for example when characters are having back-and-forth conversations it's just panels side by side of character busts instead of having speech bubbles intertwined with various action panels.

Gorgeous art, non-stop action and evil cliffhanger - perfection!
Originally published at: http://solittletimeforbooks.blogspot.co.ukI fell in love with the first instalment of this series earlier in the month and I was counting down the days until this popped through my letterbox. Fandemonium was just as incredible as The Faust Act.In the wake of Luci’s sudden, violent death, Laura is struggling. She can’t stop going over the events of that night and she’s desperate to uncover the mystery of the murderer that Luci was accused of being. During this period of time, all of the art is darker, almost swimming in an echoey blue light that just put across Laura’s state of mind immediately. It also felt a lot text heavier than the previous volume. With the help of Cassandra and Innana, Laura delves even further into the dangerous, heightened world of the gods and ends up getting way more than she bargained for. All of the biggies from the first volume are back and we get to learn more about them, but I still want to know more – they’re fascinating! It’s really hard to discuss the plot without spoilers as so much happens so I’ll move onto the art! There are three artists that work on this comic together - Jamie McKelvie, Matthew Wilson and Clayton Cowles – and they’ve truly created something wonderful. It’s my favourite art that I’ve come across so far. I love how each character has their own typography, how the comic isn’t the same traditional format all the way through, the colours. Oh man, the colours. I only wish our world looked like that. After a truly evil cliffhanger, I’m once again eagerly awaiting Volume 3. I hope they at least announce a release date soon!

Amazing comic
ARGGHHH! It had been a while since I screamed out of frustration because a book open ending! The kind of "no, nonononononono, don't leave me like this! I need to know what happens next!". I enjoyed this volume more than the first one, and I cannot wait for the next!

God damn it
I just read this one an hour after reading volume one and now I have to go fake pout at the human who introduced me to this glorious terrifying and beautiful universe.

I really enjoyed the first book
I really enjoyed the first book, but the second had no stand alone plot, making it a fairly pointless purchase on its own. Where the first did a pretty good job of establishing a story arch which could stretch over several comics whilst still being an enjoyable read in its own right, this one completely fails on the latter point. This, coupled with a bullsh*t cliffhanger ending dissuaded me from continuing to read further in the series.

Meh
The art is very pretty, but the plot and characterisation are irritatingly shallow.
