best earbuds for the money
they're not the best earbuds on the market, but for 20-ish dollars they are pretty awesome. they have great range and surprisingly decent bass for earbuds. they aren't active noise canceling, so in that regard they are only as good as how well they fit your ears. that said, they do block out a good amount of background noise. these buds came with a different style of silicon nubbies (or whatever they're called). i really didn't like them. didn't like the way they fit and honestly think they negatively affect the sound quality because they don't let the buds get deep enough into the ear. i'm not looking to push them into my brain, but the better they seal, they better they sound, so i like to get them tucked in. anyway, i swapped out the nubbies with some other ones i had from another pair of symphonized buds and now i can say they are awesome. i personally think the wood looks great and that it adds a lot to the sound quality. it's just so much richer and warmer than other plastic buds i've used. i had other pairs of symphonized buds that had the rubber/silicon wire. honestly they were a royal p.i.t.a. with how often and how much they got tangled. it's like the silicon just sticks to itself and pretty much guarantees a tangled mess every time you use them. if it wasn't for the sound quality i would definitely have bought something different. so, when i found these aln models with the fabric-wrapped cable, i couldn't wait to get them. they check all the boxes for me: great sound quality, virtually tangle-free wires, they look awesome and they're only $20-ish. i love these earbuds!

TL;DR 8.5/10 in terms of sound quality and headphone quality. Also very reasonable price.
The headphones I initially ordered had a broken left earbud within 2 (very light) uses. I contacted customer services who very promptly sent me a new pair, no additional questions asked. I waited to post a review until now (9 months later) because I was afraid the headphones were going to break again. Well, they haven't and they're still working just as good as before. The sound quality is pretty good - I've had better with Sony headphones before. For the average listener who doesn't particularly However, the ambient noise-blocking ability of these headphones is where they shine. It's definitely not 100% ambient noise blocking but it's very good considering the price (also 100% noise blocking is annoying in its own way). The cord does transmit some noise while moving it but this is mostly alleviated by the clip that the headphones come with. It might sound overly annoying to use a clip for the headphones, but it's not. The carrying pouch is very useful and well-made. I use it daily and it's very easy to use (also prevents tangling). 10 month update: these headphones are holding strong in both sound quality and build. I think the carrying case along with the nylon covered cord really extends the life of the headphones. The cord has discolored a tiny bit, but since it is white, it is to be expected. I would definitely recommend a friend to buy these.

Durable Noise Canceling Headphones For a Mobile Lifestyle
The Symphonized ALN Premium Genuine Wood in ear headphones are not at all a terrible set of cans for the pricepoint! After about two months of use the headphones produce bearable sound (of course I am biased basing my experience on the Grado 225i's that I have been using for a while now). The headphones are mobile friendly, but due to the interchangeable earpieces mishaps are sure to happen, in my case, one of the ear pieces that you see in the advertised picture were lost within a few days, but I then placed one of the larger replacement earpieces which are a blessing and a curse. They are a blessing because I found them more comfortable than the original earpieces that came with the headphones; they are a curse because they work too well in the noise canceling category as I definitely cant hear attendants at a grocery store or even my mother speaking to me when they are in at even modest sound volumes! Therefore I recommend to check to see which of the earbuds are right for you even before deciding to dive in to experience the slightly muddied by bass (a little better once broken in) sound quality of these cans (and learn how to lip read XD). The last comment I will make on this decent purchase is the stitching that extends the length of the cord-along with the connector jack-are clearly built to last (unlike any of the number of $20 sony headphones I have purchased that always end up only playing in only one ear after a few months of mobile use due to the flimsy build quality of the cord and the connector jack) and, at this pricepoint they definitely feel like a steal!

I hate to give a bad review
Review update: I purchased these in September of 2015. I left a 2-star review with the below comments. This month (January 2017) Symphonized contacted me via email and offered to send me a replacement set. I have updated my review to 4 stars. These headphones do sound really great. The base is incredible. They shipped me a different model that does not have the fabric covered cord. Touching the cord does make less noise but it does still seem louder than other headphones I've used. Possibly because the ear buds fit so snugly into your ear. I'm am not noticing the same issue with excessive pressure on my eardrum with the new pair, but they are the same as my initial pair. They seem to be well made, and the fact that the company contacted me out of the blue is pretty great. Original review: I hate to give a bad review, but these did not live up to my expectations. If you move and the cord rubs on your clothing it is very loud in your ear due to the material of the cord. The ear plug has no vent so when you push it into your ear it creates increased pressure in your ear and makes my eardrum (or something) flex and pop. I tried drilling an air hole with no luck. Not comfortable. Fortunately, after a month, I dropped my phone with them plugged in and it damaged the headphones so that they no longer work at all. Good riddance.

Very pleased with these earphones. Good looking, good fit, good sound, good cord length, good all around.
I am pleased with these. I use them to listen to music or audiobooks when I am walking in the indoor track at my neighborhood gym, and they work very well for me. Good sound projection - especially for the price. Also, when I get a phone call, I can take it and keep walking, and everyone has told me the sound quality is good on the receiving end. They also look good, and the cord is long enough to be able to move without inadvertently pulling the earphones out of your ears. Also, as an aside, I had surgery nearly 20 years ago because of a car accident/passenger air bag injury, and as a result, my ear canals are misshapen. SO MANY in the ear earphones do NOT work for me at all. These have a good selection of rubber ends so that I found two that work for me. If they fit me and stay in my ears, they will work for almost anyone IMHO. Glad I listened to the positive reviews and got these. I've also slept in them when I've been on a trip with friends sharing a room (to drown out snoring and other noises), and they work well for that and are comfortable enough. They, however, would not be my first choice for sleeping because they are not super comfortable. But for walking and just listening to books and music, they are perfect.

Did not fit but... stellar customer service saved the day!
EDIT: as it turns out, I had done my research, just grabbed the headphones that happened to be on sale. Had I looked on the [...], I would have known that there were more and better options for my ears. Customer Service responded immediately to my concerns, and they dropped new headphones in the mail for me, FREE OF CHARGE. I'm now the proud and lucky owner of a pair of: Symphonized GLXY Premium Genuine Wood In-ear Noise-isolating Headphones with Mic and Nylon Cable (Ebony) They are pretty much what I was looking for, comfy, big and clear sound, braided cables, and (why not) nice looks. Great upgrade from my old Panasonic ErgoFit In-Ear Earbud Headphones RP-HJE120-K (Black) Dynamic Crystal Clear Sound, Ergonomic Comfort-Fit . I'm definitely a convert (and I'll do more research next time!). ------------My original review: They look great, they feel great in your hands... But in my ears they did not fit: even with the smallest tips, they hurt. I might have really small ear canals, of course, so your mileage might vary. The headphones come with a wide variety of tips of different size & shape, but the metal ridge that holds them is large enough to be an annoyance, at least to me. Further, I suspect that even if properly worn they still would not be suitable for cycling: the body sticks out too much from the year, causing wind turbulence and noise. Conclusion: if they fit you and you don't plan to use them while practicing a sport, they are probably great for their price. The did not work for me, sorry.

Horrible Microphonics
********UPDATE********* After writing my review, Symphonized contacted me and offered a replacement pair of headphones that have the nylon cord instead of the braided cord. I am updating this review to a two star based in the fantastic customer service, and also because the new headphones that I received (The ALN's with the nylon cord) have become my go-to favorite headphones. They have great base, and a wide range of highs and mids as well. (the memory foam inserts help tremendously) They also have next to NO static. I still CANNOT and will not recommend the braided ALN's, but the nylon corded alternative are a must-have 5/5!! Personally, the Symphonized ALN's did not want to stay in my ears for more than a minute or two regardless of the size and if I moved around any they would just fall out. However, that could have been just my ears so I am not deducting stars for that. Where these headphones really made me give it a one star are simply the outrageous Microphonics your hear from the nylon cord. I read a lot of reviews on this where people were stating you could here quite a bit of static from the cord, but I never believed them that it was going to completely ruin the music experience from these headphones. The sound on them are decent for 25$, I'm not complaining in that category, it has decent highs, mids, and lows (nothing very good or very bad). It's just that if you plan on moving your head at at while listening to music with these headphones all you are going to hear is a TON of static noise making it impossible to enjoy your music without having the volume ยพ of the way up and even then you can hear it a little. Other reviewers said the clip helps a lot, I used the clip but even then it didn't significantly reduce the static because if ANY part of the cord touches ANYTHING you will hear an insane amount of static. The clip just prevents static coming from the one section you use it with. Overall, I would not recommend these headphones to anyone. They are simply a waist of money and I will be returning these.

Great product! Great price!
I am very happy with my purchase for multiple reasons: 1- Excellent sound quality. I first noticed that with the volume unchanged, the sound was not only louder but more full and clear. 2- Good noise canceling ability. My wife was upset with me when I was first trying them out because I couldn't hear her as she was trying to get my attention. And we were in the same room. Also worked well on a plane to drown out the crying of an upset child. 3- Great options for in-ear comfort and preference. They came with 2 designs and 3 sizes of each for a total of 6 choices. 4- Attractive design with no compromise in comfort. The appearance is very expensive looking and I love the wood aesthically as well as the benefits it brings brings to the acoustics. 5- Cost is very reasonable and I am going to be ordering a pair for my wife. 6- Added bonus is the attractive and functional carrying case. As you can tell, I am a very happy consumer of this product!
