1TB 2.5" Hard Drive for Apple MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2009) (17-inch, Mid 2010) (15-inch, Mid 2010) (13-inch, Mid 2010)

The first 1 TB hard drive I received from this company wouldn't format with my 2010 macbook pro, so I exchanged it for a new one quite easily and I was pleased with the new hard drive for the first 4 months. However, one day it just died. I could hear the disk making strange sounds whenever I would attempt to start up the computer. Thankfully I backed up all my information, otherwise I'm afraid I would have lost it all. This was a hassle and it certainly should have lasted more than 4 months. Do yourself a favor and get a solid state hard drive. Faster, more reliable, and worth the money.

This hard drive did the job - I brought my computer to the local Apple store and they installed it first-hand. OSX 10.12.1 has no install disk, so I had to install it somehow. Apple was impressed with the item's selling price. I waited a bit to perform this review and to see if my MacBook Pro ran superb and without any problems... and it has operated great ever since! Lots of storage with an efficient Data Transfer Rate (DTR)! It is my 3rd hard drive installed for this 17" Mid 2010 MacBook Pro of mine, and both of my previous ones I used lasted 3 years each - hopefully this one will make it far beyond the 3 year standard lifespan of a hard drive!

DO NOT BUY! JUNK! Bought this product in March 2015 and it has completely failed in little over a year, My Mac locked up last week and would not start up. Apple Store could only repair by restoring my,computer to the original condition by putting my old hard drive back in. And unfortunately I had not backed up all my work from the last year. All lost.

It is slightly smaller than the hard drive that was originally in my MacBook, so you need a thin spacer to make sure it stays put and doesn't wiggle.

Good price but while it states its for a mid 2010 17” Mac Book, the mounting tabs do not hold it in place and it slides around had to shim it.

Product worked great. I put in my Mac Book Pro and took about 5 mins to do. Took about 1.5 hours to run "Time-Machine" but once loaded the hard drive gave me 4X the storage. Great product!

If you are going to buy this product I suggest you get the protection plan. Not even a year since it was installed and the hard drive no longer works. Nothing I can do about it 9 months in, this hard drive is just not good.

I installed this hard drive in my 2010 macbook pro and it worked very well for a few months, then suddenly it started squeaking and stopped working. If you want reliability, I wouldn't pick this product. If you do, I suggest you back up regularly.

There were no securing screws or torque to get them out of the old drive besides that it works great! thanks
