look at the seller who is selling. If this is Amazon, then no one knows for sure

Q: I just bought a pair of these and they’ve rubbed really badly on my ankles - anyone else had similar issues? Anything I can do?

Can't speak for anyone else but I usually buy walking or hiking shoes / boots a half size bigger and wear two pairs of socks. It's worth buy decent socks, merino wool or a fine woollen sock under some hiking socks. works for me and I have had no issues with the Salomen Ultra 3's or my Merrell Boots

Q: just checking - these are the NON-Goretex version?

Yes these aren't Gore-Tex. I've had a few pair of the Gore-Tex version of this type of Salomon & think your better off paying a little extra & getting the Gore-Tex ones.
