Get a spirit box instead (just kidding)
Itâs a random number generator coupled with a Geiger counter and lights. To the average person itâs just a lamp that blinks random colors at random times. This would not justify such a high price tag but if the makers of this product were to include the 3mm to USB adapter, thatâs only $30, then you could connect to a computer and actually see RNG data being produced and therefore get more value and utility out of it. I have not yet bought the cable so I can only give a partial review. I suppose you can test for âcertainâ abilities and maybe influence or predict the sequence of the colors of the lights but I havenât had much luck. UPDATE: 04/03/2023 Bought the 3mm to USB adapter a while ago and downloaded the software and used it. Not very impressed with those results but I hardly used it, the adapter and software made it more than a lamp. I donât regret buying it, itâs definitely a pricey novelty item and I would like more things like this!

No cable included
It sure would have been nice to get the cable with this device. As well as I have to navigate the web to find the software to go with it. For $259 I would think that all of this wouldâve been included in the purchase. Update: Returned item and still have not gotten my money back.

Interesting Hardware RNG, More Substantial Than It First Appears
I bought the PSI Science Lamp mainly out of curiosity about true random number generators and as a visual tool for experimentation, not because I expected proof of psychic phenomena. From a hardware standpoint, itâs actually an intriguing little device. The build quality is solid, the wooden enclosure looks nice on a desk, and the color-changing light gives immediate visual feedback tied to the RNG output. Setup was straightforward, and the USB connection worked as advertised on my Windows PC. The included software allows you to log data and see the raw output, which is where this product makes the most sense to me, as a genuine hardware-based randomness source rather than a âmind-over-matterâ gadget. Used this way, itâs fun for demonstrations, art projects, or basic experiments comparing hardware randomness to software RNGs. That said, the product description leans heavily into testing parapsychology claims. The lamp cycles colors fairly slowly, and without structured protocols or statistical tools, itâs easy to read meaning into randomness. Downloading the free software from the company website was a game changer. The mind over matter testing software gamifies PSI testing, which makes it fun and exciting to watch. Overall, if you have the time to invest in running the software through its paces, this can be an enjoyable and thought-provoking piece of hardware.
