Awesome sound/Awesome bang for the buck/Smart Mic
The media could not be loaded. Heck yeah. I spent a long time trying to decide if I wanted to get this or the Pro version. This shotgun mic is 100% worth it to me. The V-Mic D3 fits perfect in my video shooting where a shotgun mic is applicable. While you get a few more bells and whistles for the D3 Pro - this one still ticks all of the boxes. The smart handshake - the smart power (when the cameras on it's active, when the cameras off it powers down/standby mode SAVING THE CRAP OUT OF BATTERIES). I can't brag enough. I thought I would have buyers remorse but I'm stoked. If you are like me and were on the fence for a while it's absolutely worth it. I'm sure the features of the pro are worth it to some...but I couldn't justify the 2x cost for it. The standard D3 nails it for me.ALSO: It comes with a custom Rycote mount for that cost... Some people spend the price of this microphone on Rycote gear... so yeah... pretty sweet.I uploaded a video skip to 2:04 if you just care about how it sounds. Good luck in finding what you're looking for. I'm a Deity believer now.

Started Great, Then Technical Difficulties Followed, Now It's Useless
I'm a professional actor who uses a shotgun mic for auditions. I got this product, because it was recommended to me by another actor. It's compatible with my Panasonic LUMIX G7 Mirrorless Camera, so I bought the Deity mic and started using it right away. For the first 3 months, the mic worked well. Then, a high pitched sound started to creep in to my recordings. In the past couple of months, it's become a sustained screech that makes my self-tapes impossible to listen to. I've tried troubleshooting this error: a new battery, checking the shock mount, replacing the input/output cable... but nothing seems to work. If you're looking for a shotgun mic, DO NOT BUY THIS ONE.

Excellent quality!
I'm using the mic over a SONY a7siii and it works marvelously! It has great construction materials, it turns on when you connect, even from your laptop for zoom calls!

On a tight budget? DO NOT BUY unless you got a lot of money to throw around.
Bought this about 5 days ago. I just returned back from a funeral gig and the mic will not come off. After inspecting it, the silver screw in the Microphones adapter popped out and trapped the adapter into my cold shoe which is incredibly stupid as you never touch that part when you use it in a cold shoe. I can no longer use my camera handle for anything else. I can't store these items correctly. I can't return this too because the two parts are joined by aluminum all because the microphone's adapter popped into my cold shoe.I am extremely PO as I am a financially tight budgeted videographer and I needed this handle/cold shoe for my next gig. This is a huge set back for me and would not want anyone to experience what I am experiencing. These parts are what puts bread on the table. I am contacting the company Deity as well.

Just what i was looking for. good build quality, very low noise gain , & a good price..
I purchased the Deity v mic d3 because I also have the deity shotgun mic which I love for its performance and solid build quality. The d3 did not disappoint. I wanted something to mount on camera, After trying several other on camera mics(Rode micro & Rode videomic go) they were powered by camera power only ,neither seemed to have enough gain for proper sound quality on the Black magic pocket 4k. The Deity seems to add just enough gain through the AAA battery power to give me good low noise levels in camera. It has metal housing and seems to be very durable. The lyra shockmount system is the same as on other mics & excellent. I like that the mic powers on with the camera & also shuts off when camera is turned off (can only speak for black magic camera) All in all this microphone is just what I was looking for excellent performance, good build quality & a very decent price. I would recommend this product ...

Looks nice, but DOA
I got this in and was all ready to plug it into my shiny new Sony ZV-1 to make a video. Unfortunately, the mic was DOA: it refused to respond to the touch switch on the back. I tried with it plugged in and unplugged and swapped batteries for one that was known good. No dice. No response from the customer service folks, either. Time to return it.
