My Girl
This was my oldest son’s fav movie as a child! 🥰. He passed 2 years ago and I wanted to watch it with my younger children in his honor. Couldn’t find it anywhere then my youngest daughter found it on Amazon Prime and she loved it. ❤️ Thanks Amazon Prime, you always come thru 💪🏾

Great Movie!
Everyone must see My Girl. I remember watching it over and over again when I was younger. I rented it for my 12 year-old to watch with me. She really enjoyed it.

COMING OF AGE TALE WITH GREAT HUMOR, AND SADNESS ----WITH BLU RAY REVIEW
A 5 STAR EMOTIONAL CHOICE, AND STILL AN OUTSTANDING 4 OR 4 1/2 STAR PRODUCTION (1991 release)4K REMASTER ON BLU-RAY-- BRIEF NOTES INCLUDEDOften some of the best stories are those that make us both laugh and cry together. This coming of age tale of an 11 year old girl set in 1972 has great emotional depth for a movie often billed as a comedy. It is more a drama with great humor and pathos. To call it a dramady would be an injustice. It didn't win many acting awards, but that is not the same thing as saying the performances were not great, as they were in this case. The clichés of growing up are all checked off and it can be a little schmaltzy. It is supposed to be funny after all, and it's a kid's life. It touches on moments that many or most people will find familiar... childhood crushes on a teacher, best friends, first childish kiss, awkwardness, puberty, running away (to the back yard), and ultimately love and life's loss.THE STORY (no spoilers): Vada Sultenfuss is the precocious, and somewhat hypochondriac, 11 year old girl who occasionally thinks she has a problem with her prostate! She may not understand everything about the world or how her body works, but she is sharply intelligent and witty. Rather than hanging out with the girls clique, she chooses to be around Thomas, the weird kid others don't seem to like as much. Her mother died in childbirth and her father is a mortician. These strange factors in her life make it difficult for her to come to terms with death. She also feels responsible for causing her mother's death (as mentioned, she died while giving birth to Vada). Along with her father, played by Dan Aykroyd, she lives with her grandma who is growing senile and loves to break out in raucous show tunes in very inopportune moments. They also introduce a cosmetologist/make up artist played by Jamie Lee Curtis who applies for a job to do makeup for dead people in the mortuary. She teaches Vada important life's lessons like "you can never wear too much blue eye shadow!" Things grow more complicated as Vada's father and Shelly become involved, which causes jealousy and concern for Vada. Many of life's growing pains will be navigated, mostly with a great deal of humor and cheesiness. There are more serious moments as well and the movie will really try to tug at your heartstrings at times.FAMILY VIEWING NOTE: I leave it to individual families to decide what is appropriate and what is not. For simple reference, there is mild language, some sexual innuendo, and a vague and fleeting drug reference during a writing class for grown ups (which Vada is determined to attend).4K REMASTER ON BLU-RAY: Back of Blu-ray cover claims a 4K restoration. Overall the picture is fairly sharp and the colors vibrant. They tend to lean on the warm side, but not in an unnatural way. There is light grain through out. For the most part, it's appropriate to the age of the movie and the light cinematic grain one would expect. Most people consider that preferable to the smooth but waxy DNR effect. However, for a 4K restoration, I still thought the grain was just a notch more noticeable than expected. I am still really happy with my new copy! SPECS: 1.85:1 1080p, DTS Master Audio,FINAL THOUGHTS: The movie has aged pretty well despite the passage of nearly 25 years. Though it won't be entered into the annals of great cinema by academics, it is a standout in the category of favorite coming of age movies by the fans themselves. Professional critics have given it reasonably positive reviews, while fan ratings are nearly perfect scores. You decide what category you fit in. There also weren't many complaints about the old DVD copy, so this new Blu Ray release should be an improvement, but not a massive change. I am not overly expectant of a blow-you-away transfer, but will update when I can. I suggest a rental unless you are already a total fan of the film.
