A book you can mine for many years to come
For anyone interested in mental imagery as part of life's spiritual process this book is gold. The contemplations that often go with the imagery exercises are sometimes inexplicable, but as invocations the metaphorical right brain seems to understand them perfectly. And there is enough material that you can practice something different everytime and then every now and then you will come across an exercise that seems to demand repitition. Working with this kind of material can therefore also be an exercise in intuition and paying attention to your self at a deeper level that you might normally. Mental imagery practiced in relatively short bursts,as prescribed here, is a somewhat unique approach to the subject. Practiced mindfully the practitioner realizes fairly quickly that consciousness can be shifted quite dramatically in mere moments. Over time, consciousness can be rebuilt in the same way. A nice touch is that there are imagery exercises designed to evoke the spirit of many different traditions, as well as aid healing of mind and body. The book's content is therefore universal in its appeal. There are also teachings embedded in the book that reveal an approach to everyday life that should appeal to anyone wishing to deepen their relationship to the unseen world of spirit, a world I might add, that pokes through into awareness more and more when you practice this type of meditation. Readers of reviews often demand examples. There are plenty in the free teaser offered by Amazon and on Dr. Epstein's web-site.

Verdict is still out.....
i am not yet sure about this book.....because the table of contents lists the visualizations by "strange" titles. I actually expected a list of diseases / emotional states etc that could be esaily looked up..... just like in any encyclopedia.....not so here. i will be spending some more time reading through the book and probably creating my own table of contents? ? ?

Very interesting
I like the ideas in this book and very soon began creating my own. It is a good starting point for delving into visualization for healing and keeping it simple.

Confusing book. Returned it.
I would give this one star except I don't like to use the word hate. I expected this to be more of a guide for various imagery for guided meditation or hypnosis but it didn't support either of those disciplines. I found the book very confusing as well. It just didn't make sense or provide any logical way of using it.

Definitive reference
This is one book every healer must have for ready reference. I would recommend reading it with Dr. Jerry Epstein's Healing Visualizations: Creating Health Through Imagery. It is the most definite reference on the subject of visualization and a great gift to mankind.
