Fixed my 2001 Elantra
2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS. I had the "cannot fill up gas tank" situation with a check engine light. After pulling the codes and doing some research, I found it was some hindrance with the vapor system. I hate "throwing parts" at it, but this device seems like the correct one. I did pull the old part off before ordering, and I did a 12V test and did not see the plunger move at all when applying voltage.I had a few charcoal bits in my bigger line that goes to the gas tank. But not a lot.The repair itself was fairly easy. 12MM socket, long extension and a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamps over the rubber hoses. Please note, do NOT throw away your old one until you get this one. There is a piece of rubber that goes on one of the round inlets that is not included. The old one was in good shape, so just use it (most likely it will be in good shape). But other than the piece of rubber you need to transplant from the old item onto the new item, this item is everything you need. It was a simple repair. There might be a few reasons why you get the cannot fill up gas syndrome or the check engine light with vapor related codes.Just to be clear, this part goes near the back driver's side wheel, under the trunk area. Right next to the charcoal canister. (On my 2001 Elantra that is)Anyway, I can now get the car inspected!! This repair was completed just yesterday so I cannot comment on life span.

Chasing the Culprit
Bought this as year ago along with a replacement Dorman charcoal canister. The old canister had come apart internally and plugged the vent solenoid. (The replacement of it being reviewed here). So I was replacing both. Basically this vent solenoid went bad after a few months and I replaced parts all around it, chasing an intermittent problem (P0455) not knowing that this vent solenoid was intermittently faulty. Finally got around to pulling this assembly down and testing the solenoid as there was no place else to go. As I mentioned above it tested good for a few cycles then acted weak, then OK, then would not switch at all. As I said, intermittently faulty. I ended up getting an OEM Hyundai vent solenoid for 90 bucks cured the problem. I expect it to last the 20 years the original did. You get what you pay for.

It Did the Trick!
i had an intermittent check engine light that was for a major evap leak and it was a pain. had a good friend who is a mechanic and he narrowed it down to one of two valves in that line-up (or both) so, i purchased both on amazon and we replaced both. when we did replace them, we did find the bad one. we checked them both before and they were both fine but this time, the valve was stuck open. i got my car inspected for emissions and it past no problem and the check engine light has not been on since. this valve is the one in the rear bottom of the car and it turned out that it replaced the one that actually failed. the smaller, skinnier valve is under the hood, that was fine, but, i replaced them both to be safe. can't beat the cost or the quality. highly recommended!

2002 Elantra
Pick this up for my son’s car. He had an issue with a Evap code that kept coming up. Small and large leak detected. Replace this with the gas cap and code cleared Great value for the money.

The right replacement part
I got this replacement part for my car and it was delivered quickly. The installation was not too difficult although it took my friend and I some time to replace the original part with this one. This new valve was a little less tight fitting as the original but we used a clamp on the hose to tighten it. It solved my problem and the check engine light went away.

replacement Charcoal Canister Vent Valve for Hyundai
Purchased this for my 3007 Kia (same size part) to solve a problem code 2422 - stuck canister vent valve.Same size as the OEM product. Quality build and about 1/4 or less the price of the Kia official replacement part.Installation on the Hyndai is pretty easy and there are Youtube's showing you how. Installation on the Kia Optima was quite a challenge. On my vehicle it is located near the charcoal canister, but sandwiched between the gas tank and the underside of the car body. You have a very small area to work in, unless you drop the gas tank! Still, was possible to install. The hardest part was getting the old valve out, due to the hoses being held onto each connection with spring clips. I found it very hard to get a purchase on those clips to squeeze and open them. In the end, had to cut the hoses and replace both hoses along with conventional screw cinch hose clamps. Still was cheaper than taking the time to drop the tank.UPDATE: Although it appeared to be an equivalent replacement for the KIA, in the end it did not work! The physical size was the same, however the electrical connector was slightly different. The cable which plugs into the valve did not securely lock in place. With vehicle movement, it came loose and the same malfunction code showed up again! In the end I had to take it out and replace with an OEM part from KIA.BUYER BEWARE!!!
