The Khyber is a revolutionary hybrid combat boot that conquers mountainous areas as well as rough terrain. Once you wear this boot in the field, you will realize that it represents a significant step forward in tactical footwear. These boots were designed by Belleville Shoe, a leading supplier of military footwear to the Department of Defense, in conjunction with the special forces community to provide a sturdy, rugged boot that gives excellent ground feel and mobility. The intent of the integrated deeply-serrated heel and toe aids the sole to provide a better feel for the terrain underfoot and can assist in braking & arresting slides as well as aiding in vertical climbing & crawling. While the VIBRAM "IBEX" outsole is for the rugged terrain, the TR-1 Load Bearing Orthotic insole ensures comfort while enduring such ground. The rappelling bars on the outsole extend the wear of the outsole, while the breathable combat lunar lining and heel & toe overlay design extends the overall Wear and Life of the boot.Belleville has been making combat boots for Uncle Sam since World War I and is currently the largest boot supplier to the Department of Defense, but when they set out to design a new line of tactical combat boots (dubbed Tactical Research), they did not let tradition hold them back. They pioneered a novel approach that provides everything you need – reliability, stability, and traction – in a lightweight, comfortable boot that provides sure footing and an improved feel for the ground. Why clunk around with an inch or two of rubber stuck to the bottom of your feet when you can glide through your area of operations? These are men's boots. For women's sizes, order 2 size down from your regular shoe size (ie. if you wear a woman's size 8, order a size 6).

Great fit and sadly these are made by the Tactical Research (Chinese) division of Belleville. I wish these were made in the USA as my original boots but overall the quality is comparable to my USA made boots.Update: After a few months of light abuse these boots hold up to their name. However the heel is starting to wear. Also the stitching on the rand is starting to fray along with the adhesive starting to wear out.Update: It's been barely a year of light use and the boots failed... I went through hell and back with my original Belleville training boots. I'm not too happy with this failure. The boots tore open where it connects to the sole...Update: These boots may have been a lemon and the seller was quick to get me a new pair straight from Belleville. Fantastic customer service.

Amazing drability and quality
I have been the Khyber series boots for years now and I love them. I think I am on about 10 pairs now between the military and my civilian job. cannot complain about the quality. These boots come in several different colors ranging from black to coyote brown. I was wearing a pair of these boots when I got into my motorcycle accident 2 years ago and the boots held up great they protected my foot and ankle like boots are suppose to do. The only thing that really happened to these boots was some of the stitching burned off and the boot laces burnt away with a little bit of damage to the boot lace grommets. I still use the boots for ridding today and will continue to use them. All in all these boots do a very good job in protecting your feet and the durability is amazing. I wish I had the money to have like 4 brand new pairs of these boots in my closet at all times.

Lightweight and comfortable out if the box!
I bought these boots to run in. They are very light and so very comfortable. I had about a 3 hour break in period before I put 3 miles of run on them. Great ankle support for us old farts! I run on trails and off road and have plenty of traction. Great boots! Update- a few weeks later, 80 miles per the fitness tracker later, and still no problems. These things are like running shoes with lots of ankle support and tons of grip. I don't know if they are the best boots made, but they are the best ones I have had so far. Good for running cross country and rucking!

Need a serious break-in period, but pretty good for the money
I wear a women's size 8 in most shoes and generally a 6(M) in men's/unisex combat boots. Men's boots are usually too wide and I just have to deal with it or wear thick socks, but these are actually a good fit with minimal side-to-side slippage. I cover a lot of miles on mountainous and rocky terrain and these have good traction and a tall upper with good ankle support, plus they're lightweight. The laces start closer to the toe than other boots, so they are easier to cinch up for narrow feet. These were SUPER uncomfortable at first. They rubbed all over my ankles, they were stiff, and there were protrusions on the inside that poked and irritated. Then the gods sent a rainstorm and I had to hike through a creek bed for about a mile in thigh-high water. It was miserable. But when my boots dried, they were perfect--no blisters, no rubbing. The leather on the inside smoothed right out. Speaking of rain though, these are not waterproof or water resistant, but they are breathable. You can't have it all, I guess. These aren't the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever owned, but if you need footwear that's in regs (Air Force sage green) and also works out in the real world, these are pretty great, especially if you need a narrower fit.

Tuff break in
The boots are nice and well made. The problems that I have are that my heal slips when I walk in them. I usually wear a 10 or 10.5 so I thought 10s would be right. They are a bit too big. So I have to cinch down the laces, whisking causes the boot eyelets to dig into the top of my foot and into the front of my ankle. I'll give them another week or two to see if it gets better otherwise... new boots. Not buying these again.

I was in need of a good hiking/hunting boot for temperate climates from spring to fall that was both lightweight and durable. Following the directions I selected a size smaller than my regular shoes (10.5's for my work shoes makes for a perfect fit of 9.5R with the khybers) The boots are well made for the most part, very lightweight, easy to break in, and great traction. Its been a few months and my only complaint is the liner on one side has lost its threading by the heel cap inside and will require a little bit of hand stitching. It hasn't affected my wearing of it, but it does lead to some irritation when trying to put the boots on since the heel cap now tries to fold over when I'm placing my foot inside and has to be held in place by hand. Overall I'd say the boot was worth its price.

Durable
These have worked out better than I expected. I've walked about 12 miles a week on varied surfaces (hiking forest trails, rocky terrain, paved streets) in Costa Rica for 8 months, with minimal wear on the left foot. They took a few weeks to break in, but once they did, they became my most comfortable footwear for my trip. They breathe really well, even in the hot, dry season, they do not feel overly warm. They also fair ok in the rainy season, taking about an hour of walking in the rain before I notice my socks getting damp. Be wary of flame and sparks, the synthetic material on the tongue can melt if exposed.

great boots
I've worn bevelle's boots for probably the past 7 years or so, and have gone through about 4 pair now. while I like the low profile kiowa boots, which are no longer available, these ones are a close second and are basically like the kiowa, but taller.boots come with a curve in them which rocks the foot as you walk, and the insoles are good enough that you can stand on them for 8 hours without your feet wanting to fall off.would definitely buy these boots again, and likely will once I run the soles out of these ones like I've done the others. for those interested, I use them as work boots and generally last me a year and a half to two years depending on whether or not they're strictly work boots for me, or if I use them all day.these guys are much more comfortable to me than magnum tactical boots.
