Near East - Near East Taboule Salad Mix 5.2.5 Oz (Pack of 12)

I add more parsley and diced tomatoes and green onion to the box. It’s wonderful!

I use that mainly to bring lunch to work where I scoop it up with lettuce leaves or sweet red peppers. Tasty and filling. Ignore the how to make instructions on the box. Put the wheat and seasoning packet in a bowl and pour only one cup of cold water, cover it well and refrigerate overnight. In the morning fluff it up and add olive oil, lemon juice, and hot pepper sauce to taste. For me it is enough to make three containers of delicious and healthy lunch. Will order it again for sure.

My local grocery stores stopped carrying this Near East variety and I was glad to find it on Amazon. I absolutely LOVE to use it as a whole grain (cracked bulgar wheat) base for salads or alone as a side. It makes a lovely cold salad when tossed in with sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese, and cooked shrimp. As a diabetic, I also find that the bulgar wheat affects my blood sugar less than traditional pasta.

Hard to find here so have to stock up Sitto.

Faced with an abundance of home grown tomatoes from my condo patio, I tried to remember what I'd done in the past. And then I remembered the Taboule I served with poached salmon for Sabbath lunch for groups of 10 to 12. Tried to make it from online recipes. no success. Tried a different brand, not what I wanted (too much parsley for me).Then I decide maybe 12 boxes of Near East, the other name I remembered, would last a long time so I didn't need to worry about shelf life. Could not be happier. As a cook, I was unable to restrain myself and added diced Persian cucumbers and finely chopped garlic, both recommended by the 'from scratch' recipes.I ordered the 'wheat salad' and that is what I received, i.e. it looks like the Amazon picture for wheat salad. However, it was labeled 'grain mix'. Mine is a whole wheat bulgar. Just perfect. The picture for the 'grain mix' shows a white grain (or couscous). Not sure if they are actually the same.Could not be happier with this purchase.

Don't know why I can't buy this in the store anymore. But buying a case it does last a while. This is so easy to make. And ready to eat in just minutes after soaking in the fridge for a hour.

The local store was out of stock on our usual so we tried this one for a change. Is good but very little tang.
