This water pad toy is really cute and awesome. Got this to help my 4 month old with tummy time since he hates it! So far so good. He’s still a little young but if I get his attention towards the toy he will stare at the little floating sea creatures inside. I did put 1/4 white vinegar inside to keep it from molding BUT I plan on cleaning it every week. The creatures inside are stuck together and I tried to shake the water inside hard but it only shook one thing loose. I did Have to take them out to unstick them But I plan on taking them all out and laying them flat to straighten them out since they are folded up. Other then that this toy is great! Small too so it’s not so bulky and can easily fit on top a high chair! Overall I will definitely buy this again if for any reason my other older kids break it.

OK so I read other reviews before I got mine about the fish sticking. Sure enough when I got mine, even before filling it with water they were all stuck together, like tightly stuck together. What I did (and it worked so do this!!) was took all the little plastic fish out first thing. I poured some olive oil on my hands and I rubbed each fish lightly through my hands and got them all a little oily. I then put all the fish back in, poured a tiny amount of vinegar in the whale then filled with water. None of my fish stick together and the water has not mucked up or molded at all. Do this before filling and it's perfect! I've taken this to restaurants with me to put on the tables in front of my baby and she loves it. Also loves it at home too. Great product at a great price, just don't forget to oil up the little toys first.

I got this for my son, who was 4.5 months at the time, to encourage tummy time. He wasn't impressed. In fact, he only started playing with it when he learned to crawl. The good: It doesn't leak, despite taking quite a beating from his rough handling. He's even sat on it on multiple occasions, and it's doing well! Cute, though a little smaller than I expected. The bad: The floaties were all stuck together when it arrived. Fortunately I have slim fingers and was able to pull them out and separate them. Hint: (A previous reviewer suggested this, and I found it to work amazingly well!) When you take the floaties out, put some olive oil on your hands and lightly grease each floatie before putting it back in. When you fill it with water, add a little white vinegar to keep the water from going cloudy. Ours looks as good as the day I received it, 4 months later.

This little whale mat is adorable, and my 6 month old son loves whapping his hands on it to make the little sea critters inside flurry around! A few thoughts addressing some concerns from other reviewers- -Some people say they had a mold/film/algae issue. Well, the directions do say to 'Empty the toy after each use and let it dry.' That will prevent that type of issue. Or, what I do is use distilled water and a little bit of rubbing alcohol, and empty it to let it dry about once a week. I don't leave the baby alone with any type of water toy, plus the plug keeping the liquid inside is heavy duty, so I'm not concerned with the water/rubbing alcohol mixture getting out. -I have no problems with the little sea creatures inside sticking together like some reviewers have mentioned. They all float around doing their own thing. -You can definitely get the little creatures out of the whale to clean/wipe down. It's a little extra work, but worth it if you're worried about anything sanitary-wise. This is a great little entertainer for little ones, whether on a high chair tray, or for tummy time! **Update 01/27- Still LOVE this whale mat! And with the little bit of rubbing alcohol added to the water, I haven't had to empty it to let it dry in 3 weeks, and have had no mold/mildew/algae/anything icky inside. And I have had no issues with leakage either, even with my 7 month old whacking, squeezing, picking up, and knocking the whale to the floor. For the inexpensive price of this toy, and the entertainment it has provided my baby, I would still definitely recommend it!

No leaking issues in the 3 days I've had it. The cap type does concern me about the long term, especially if you empty and refill regularly. There's no gasket seal, and it just tightly pops on and off which may loosen over time. I did add about a 1/4 cup of vinegar to the water to prevent mildew so I don't have to refill often. The blow up border is impossible to completely fill using your mouth. The air doesn't easily pass the tail area where the plug is, and the harder you blow the more the air pushes back out before the rest is puffed out. Need a bicycle pump. Most frustrating is that my product arrived with four of the six floating pals were stuck and folded up together. I pulled them out of the smallish fill hole with dificulty (messy since I had to put water in first so they weren't stuck fast to the plastic inside), but after separating it was impossible to to flatten the creases in each piece. So four of the six are floating around bent and tend to catch on to each other and stay together. I gave the product a three instead of two since it was a $6 add on item. If not for that I'd have sent it back, and it's not something I will purchase again.

My little one (9mos) loves this thing- as do her older siblings (2yo and 3yo). I followed other reviewers and put a little vinegar in when I filled it with water- it's been filled for two months now and no signs of cloudiness or mildew. The items are like vinyl clings so they do stick to each other, but with some work you can separate them out- or realize it does t really. After that much, I think she likes squishing the water around more than trying to go after the individual items inside. I took it to the beach with us and it was perfect because I emptied it for travel/packing, filled it while there, and then emptied it for trip home. And she could play with it in the sand and the outside wiped clean. Great toy, especially for the low price I paid.

Baby loved this. We used it for both tummy time and in the jolly jumper. We have reused it a few times and have had no issues with leaking. It was a bit of a pain to fill, but I think that is user error.
