PLEASANTLY SURPRISED
I was looking to replace the drop ceiling tiles in the basement family room of the 35 year old house I bough, because the old fiberboard tiles were dirty and sagging and had water stains in one spot where there must have been a leak upstairs. When I started shopping for replacement tiles, these Stratford tiles were at the top of the list because (a) they were inexpensive and (b) the decorative treatment was concave, and so would make a nice edge.I was VERY concerned about the light weight. I read some of the reviews, and some folks were expressing dis-satisfaction: sound transmission, a breeze from the front door literally raising the tiles and one person said you could even see through them.Because of these concerns, I decided to buy ONE BOX of these tiles, and put them in my home office - a small 12x12 room adjacent to the family room that shared the same floor and ceiling treatment.I got them last night. It took only 1 hour for me to take down the old dusty fiberboard tiles (cough, cough), TRACE them onto the backs of the new Ceilume tiles, and cut them with scissors. Boom. Done.It looks absolutely fantastic. A super clean, decorative, brand-new look for $100 and 1 hours work? Unbeatable. No issues with light-ness (I was concerned they would sag), and no issues with sound quality. After 10 minutes admiring the new look, I got back online and bought 8 more boxes for the remainder of the basement.I don't normally write product reviews, but in this case - because the concerns I was worried about simply did not materialize.. I felt compelled to share.

Install over existing tiles if possible
These look great and are easy to install but I don't think they'd hold up if they aren't installed over the existing tiles. That's what I did.

Crisp, Clean and Modern look
I was looking for a stylish, inexpensive drop ceiling alternative to remodel my office with and after searching many different products I decided to try out the Ceilume line. Don’t let the light weightness of the product worry you. It is extremely durable and easy to install. I was even able to install new recess lighting along with it. No need to hire anyone to do this. If you are physically able, can use a t-square and a pair of scissors you can do this.. My customers are constantly complimenting me on the ceiling and that make me feel great!

Poor quality for such a high price
We purchased these for our basement and installed them about a week ago. They’re super thin and extremely flimsy. They weren’t too bad to install, but the quality is awful. After a week, they’re already starting to bow and sag. We purchased two boxes and now we’re out a lot of money. They’re severely over-priced for what they are. Honestly, they feel like the plastic from water bottles, perhaps flimsier. Do they look great? And are they as detailed and as prestine as the picture suggests? Yes. Are they likely to sag and fall out of the grid like they are at my house? Most certainly. They’re a bit smaller than the regular size so cutting to shape is impossible. We think the tape might help, but again, for the price it’s absurd. If you’re looking for good value, it’s not here. These should maybe (maybe!) be a quarter of the price they charge.

Flimsy
These are light weight, and they look nice. But they’re so flimsy if you don’t get them in perfectly the first time they can get bent or dented. They’re also so light weight that when our heat turns on they lift up and you can see into the ceiling.

Great product
Great product, looks great and easy to install. Only problem I run into is that have no idea how to fill up the gap after I cut the tile to fit into the side panel. Tried to use the left over edge of the tile to make it up but it would fit because of the shape different. Also made a dent on one of the panel when I putting it in. Other than that, it’s great!

Pretty when completed, expensive from the material and quantity received
It is, as in the description, very thin plastic. That said, you can shape them with a decent pair of scissors, and they can be trimmed in place for final fit. They are flexible, and can be warped for installation when the ceiling grid is very close to things like vents. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is they tend to lift off of the grid of the fit is snug, unlike the accoustic tiles, and, for a thin piece of vacuum molded plastic, they are rather pricey. That said, the finished product is very nice.

Not recommended by me
This product is super lightweight, but it doesn't work under MANY conditions. I bought 2 boxes and returned them. They are too small to completely replace the old ceiling tiles...they flop down in the middle and fall out. I tried installing over the old tiles, and these would flex and bow so much under the weight of the old ceiling tiles that they look terrible. Before deciding to return them, I tried to think of any way I could possibly use them. I actually broke one of my existing ceiling tiles messing with this stuff. I would not recommend these.
