Excellent !
Playing riffs 1 thru 12 even at a slow tempo sound very good ! And then parts of songs nd other neat guitar examples come next,Thi ìs the perfect starting point for anyone who wants to play and sound like him..Its a challenge ! It's worth it.! I just got yngwie s signature licks book and cd ! That's awesome as wellI'm going thru both books. And very much enjoying it!

Will Require Repeated Listenings and Much Patience to See Any Progress From This
This book does give you some inisghts into Yngwie's style. The diminished arpeggios, sweep picking, harmonic and melodic minor scales. It is a pretty good place to start but the advanced guitarist probably already know most of this stuff and the beginner will find it too advanced, so clearly this is for an intermediate guitarist who like to jump start his technique a little. It may have that effect but the insights given here are clearly for fans only. This is a how to play like me book and not much else. It's ok but should've been aimed at an audience that will need to be reminded that they need to practice with a metronome and if you can't already sight read this isn't going to help you. Yngwie sort of tell you good information but it's clear that Yngwie is a performer and not a teacher so this will require many rewinds to gain anything from it.I have to admit that after doing exactly that I did gain from it but it requires a lot of patience. Also Yngwie's "slower" versions of these excerpts may still be too fast for many, so you may gain more from practicing without the play along cd.

Good Intro
This is a good place to start if you wanna figure out what the Maestro is thinking when he is playing. The first section of the book shows some typical Yngwie licks and then it moves into some songs that he has wrote, like Trilogy Suite and Rising Force. There is also a section of blues licks(and Yngwie sure kills at the blues), and then some more chord progressions he has wrote. Not only is the book a good instructional tool, it is a good show piece for Yngwie's talent. My only problem is that, if you are just starting to shred this may not be the place to start. Yngwie seems to refuse to slow down the examples enough. He tends to just blaze through each lick and then move onto the next. A better book to start with would be Speed Mechanics by Troy Stetina. But all in all, its a good place to get some insight on Yngwies playing style.
