Overall very similar to 1st edition, just “tweaked”
I was very curious what made the 2nd edition of Graham White’s excellent “Allied Aircraft Piston Engines of World War II” (2019) different from the 1st edition (1995). Right off the bat, I noticed that the 1st and 2nd editions were about the same size, dimensions, and weight (the 1st edition is 426 pages in length, whereas the new 2nd edition was 406 pages, not 277 pages as advertised on Amazon). So while their may have been some slight reduction to the length of the book, the overall structure and format of the two editions are the same. The first section of the book is requirements, followed by British engines (Rolls-Royce, Bristol, and Napier), then American engines (G.E. turbo-superchargers, Pratt & Whitney, Allison, and Wright Aeronautical). The book closes with “Hyper-Activity and other Near-Misses”. The main difference seems to be the amount of detail stuffed into the 2nd edition, in the form of chart data, photographs, and illustrations, with particular emphasis on the charts for the Rolls-Royce Merlin and Pratt & Whitney R-2800. Overall, if you already own the 1st edition, it may make sense to pass on the pricey 2nd edition, unless they reduce the cost significantly.

Ottima pubblicazione
Una pubblicazione molto ricca di informazioni, che cataloga la produzione bellica alleata con molti dettagli. Non do 5 stelle solo perché avrei apprezzato che ci si spingesse ancora più in profondità sui dettagli tecnici
