Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash: Volume 12 (Light Novel)

Yume and Kuzaku shining moments.
Although the author said this was going to be a lighter volume, we found the party facing quite the adventure, with a high count of bodies, and I believe the first time the party kill other humans. The story is good, some long monologues as used to and of course the self deprecating main character that still is so indecisive about his relationship. Ranta is never mentioned in this volume and I’m quite curious about what happened to him. The illustrations are gorgeous as always, and the artist gave us at the end one of the best illustrations of adorable Yume.

Felt like a filler arc in a good way.
This felt like a breath of fresh air after the heaviness of the last volume. While I'm really into the serious life and death tone of the series, I find that having moments like this rounds it out a little more and reminds me why I love Grimgar in the first place: that anything can happen and we're along for the ride to see how these ordinary people deal with dangerous, complicated situations, good or bad. I find this aimlessness to be a charm to the series because I think it speaks to the uncertainty of the party's overall ambitions and intentions, which itself is the heart of the series. But that's just one guys opinion! Thanks for another great entry, Jyumonji-san!

Dissapointing
What the hell happened? Did publisher by mistake got rejected first draft?12 years old little girl who is a kung fu master, powerfull mage and a captain of a pirate ship and has a few loose screws? Is this still the same novel?Interrogating with feather? It was way too generic for my liking. Way too childish.Still it wasn't that bad. It was average. Mediocre. Dissapointing.

Fun break from the gloom.
This entry is a nice break from what the last few entries have been giving us with more and more dark and gloomy tones. I appreciated the more upbeat and fantasy style story. However, there were a serious number of typographical and grammatical errors in this book, which has been growing from entry to entry. There were even complete sentences I had to read several times to figure out what they were supposed to say. I really enjoyed the book, but the editing has to improve.

Another great entry
Like previous volumes grimgar 12 has a strong and entertaining story... And a cliffhanger ending. Still worth the read as a fan.

A Fun Entry
This entry in the series provides some much needed light-heartedness that hasn't quite been present since volume 5 and 6. Overall a fun entry.

Not as good as the rest.
Author seems to be floundering a bit with where he wants the story to go. There is almost no character growth for anyone this time other than the big twist at the end.

The worst of the series
Granted, the direction of Grimgar hasn't been so clear of late, but this volume takes the aimlessness to another level and abandons the tone and spirit of the series entirely. Be warned: if you loved the early volumes, you may be in for disappointment.

I loved it!
A really good one in the series. The pacing was good and we got to see a lot more character interaction which I loved. Look forward to the next one!

A more heartening volume
After having non-stop action/tension from the previous volumes, it is a nice to have a more heartening/fun story

Good characters devlopement
It's not the best part of the serie, but it's really good.We get some interesting characters devlopement at the begining, the last part of the first half is a little less interesting but the second half is cool with some totaly new environnement some more lore on the world and the last part devlopement a whole new strange but really interesting place. Where that volume really shine tho, is in the characters devlopement: we get some more insight how Merry view on her condition, some good devlopement for Haru and Yume, some relationship between Setora and Kuzaku and finaly some devlopement between Haru and Merry. Overall a good volume and vol13 is probably going to be really cool.

Pirate+jungle adventurers+furry arc
What can I say, this volume have it all, pirates, haruhiro riding a dragon, kung-fu martial artist, jungle exploring and anthropomorfic foxes as furry characters... If I have to say something that left me with this volumen, is that it felt pretty colorful and full of experiencies. Ah Yume~ That ending made me sob. I hope I didn't spoil anything with this comment if I did, sorry~

A truly fun fluffy adventure, but not afraid to make big changes either
The book is everything the author promised, a fun fluffy adventure, but not without series defining moments that will affect the story from there on.
