Excellent Addition to Series.
This book, like everything else I've read by Ann McMan is excellent. The characters are wonderful, the plot is original and interesting, and the writing itself is fantastic. Like usual, this book made me smile but even more importantly, it made me think. In addition to the usual quirky characters, the author acknowledges an ugliness that exists in this country that used to bubble just beneath the surface, but lately is more obvious and unfortunately is becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. I don't exactly know what to do about it yet, but I do know that books like this are important. They're important not just because they make me want to become more engaged, but because they reinforce the message that no one should have to stand alone. This is an excellent book that is funny and deep at the same time. I highly recommend it.

Not Enough Stars!
Ann McMan knocks another one out of the ball park. This third book in the series is every bit as fantastic as the first two. I have never seen anyone that can write witty repartee like this. The conversations between the characters just blows me away. This books keeps us up to date on many of the characters of the first two books while introducing and wrapping story lines around new introductions. The new characters are every bit as likable as the old. I have to say Buddy is one of my favorites. I can just see him in my mind's eye talking to Henry.Buy this book, read this series. You will not be disappointed.

writing is exellent
I have been reading Lesbian works for many years. Yet I only recently discovered Ann McManus. I have to say I read the 3 Jericho books one after the other and thoroughly enjoyed them. Ann paces her characters so well. She gives them time to develop and her writing is excellent. I can't stand when the characters fall madly in love/lust within the first couple of pages of a book. I'm like why bother reading on. I M so glad I came across Ann and I anxious await the 4th book. Please Ann say you are not stopping at 3.

Perfect.
This book is worthy of every possible superlative: funny, sweet, romantic, tender, and forgiving. And human, especially human as the characters embrace life and the joys and anguishes that come with the passing of time. We are, as humans, imperfect but on occassion, we rise above ourselves and achieve perfection.A note to the author: (1) please write the next book in the series fast and (2) Robert B. Parker died years ago. You might want to tell Syd. :-)

LOVE LOVE LOVE
I am never disappointed when I get to read about all the lives in Jericho! Once again Ann McMan has written a wonderful book. I do not give anything away in my reviews, you'll just have to read this wonderful story yourself. And if you haven't read from the beginning, Jericho and sequel Aftermath, buy them all, you will not regret it! And be prepared, once you start reading about the lives in Jericho, it's very hard to put down. I look forward to next chapter!

Bravo!!!!
Miss Ann , you really did it this time. I just finished rereading Goldenrod for the second time in 48 hours. I laughed, cried and just held my breath as Henry, Syd, Maddie and crew handled all the fates that arrived in their universe. The new crew Dorothy, Buddy, Byron did not distract but rounded out the story of this true backwater. Thank you for the visit with old friends and introduction to the new.

Well worth the wait
I can't say enough about what a quality series this is. McMan has created an ongoing story with real depth and an ever-growing cast of loveable, relatable characters. I'm always impressed with her command of the English language. I was a little sad to finish this book because it felt like having to leave the town of Jericho and its inhabitants. I truly hope another installment will follow quickly!

Keep writing more Jericho please!
My first thought at the end of this book was 'There is another in the series coming right? And it can't come soon enough.' That's the highest recommendation I can think to give. Love the series loved this one just as much as the other two. There's never a dull moment. Something new and hilarious happens every other page. It's relevant to current times while still feeling reminiscent of my youth. Can't give enough praise and can't wait for the next.!

Perfect read for a chill-out weekend
A joy from the first to the last page. No hesitation in giving this accomplished novel the full 5 stars.Goldenrod continues the story of local physician and all-round ‘handyperson’ Maddie, her partner the local librarian Syd and their eclectic group of friends. Never afraid of introducing a host of interesting characters, author Ann McManensures most of the remaining residents of the small town of Jericho get a look-in too.Reasons it gets its top rating are:It’s chunky – At 350 pages, this is a book that’s perfect for a chill-out weekend.Great editing – No annoying errors that, for some reason, often mar this genre.Humour - This feel-good novel induces plenty of smiles and chuckles.Super story – Lots of twists and turns throughout make this an engrossing read.Characters – All the favourites from the first novel ‘Jericho’, plus more.Audio available – Christine Williams is an outstandingly good narrator.Writing – Beautifully written from the first page to the last.Language – At last, an author who clearly believes lesbian fiction can include words of more than two syllables, and, that readers might have an IQ above 110.Interest – Interspersed throughout are references to music, food and places. The downsides:Waiting for the next in the series – The book is a snapshot in time, and, although the story is complete, there are a number of threads that just beg for a further book in the series.Cheetos! – Evidently, these are the panacea for sexual frustration! (One has to wonder if Ann McMan is also in the export business 😉)A final word:Goldenrod can be read on its own, but if you haven’t read Jericho then do consider reading that first. It’s a wonderful book and explores the beginning of the relationship between Maddie and Syd.
