Panyard Jumbie Jam Steel Drum (W1058) Blue

Everything about the drum was exactly as I expected when I ordered it. It looks nice, was completely in tune when it arrived (According to my Korg Tuner), and plays very well.The mallets are just lengths of dowel rod with a rubber ring on either end, which is probably just fine for playing this drum. The drum is fun to play, and it isn't difficult for a beginner to get the hang of how hard you need to strike each playing surface.I just wish they had shipped it with an outer box or sleeve so my carrying box wouldn't be so beat up. Now I'll have to find another solution for storing and traveling with this instrument.

Ever since we returned from a Caribbean vacation my son has wanted a steel drum. I ordered this one for his birthday and he loves it. It was inexpensive, but has a very good sound. The whole family has enjoyed it. This one comes with a cd and a music book. Great for a beginner.

Such a fun instrument to play. I wanted to know if teaching the steel drum to my 3rd through 5th grade students was going to be to difficult for them. So I bought this item to see if I liked it. I do. I think it is a great beginner steel drum and since my students also learned the recorder this year we can actually use the same recorder sheet music that we used for our beginning recorder lessons. It is simple to play. Now, it should be noted that this is strictly for the BEGINNER. There are only 8 notes so you are really limited, for my young students that is not a problem. If you purchase this steel drum and you like playing it, you will end up buying another with the whole music scale available. But, this is PERFECT for my Beginner students.

This is a wonderful instrument, and even my great grandson, a one year old, finds its sound pleasant. Glad I bought it, but I honestly think that it is overpriced as far as the materials involved. I would beware of competition at a lower price, ifI were this the manufacturer!

Great drum and sticks but the connecting pegs broke as installing the leg stands together and they do NOT give you extra connectors for the legs, so you can't stand it up hanging.

The steel pan is nicely tuned (and the blue happens to be my daughter's favorite shade of blue). BTW, I'm giving to her as part of her wedding gift and, G_d willing, she'll teach her future children to play it.

Nice drum good sound but the stand is junk and not worth the price keep looking

The letters are so small I can't see them. They appear larger in the pictures. Sound seems very nice with but just put it together for our 4 year olds Christmas tomorrow. For the price of over $200 I did expect it to be bigger, stand more sturdy and letters to be visible. I'm sure my daughter will love to play it anyway.
