Q: can someone tell me what the length of the brush part is not including the handle?

I would say that it’s about 5-6 inches long and 4-5 inches wide. It’s the size of a normal adult sized paddle brush.

Q: Arent they suppose to be black?

The description says specifically (2 Black) but I received pink and purple. I bought 2 sets. I want 4 black brushes as shown & described. How do I make sure I get the black???
