I Love You, Honeybear

Father John Misty serves on every spirtual level. This record has no flaw other than the ability to change a man. A change that is welcomed, a change that is needed, a change that is so profound the soul resets. The way I was moved with this album is so hard to explain, all I can say is that I felt seen and heard by a man I've never even meet. He was talking directly to me and was sharing his wisdom. Father John Misty is a teacher, and if you want to learn something about the world and yourself check out his art.

So amazing. I caught this on a 7-dollar deal from a different seller, imagining they'd mistakenly listed a CD copy (since this listing is separate from the main listing for this album, oddly). Instead, this gorgeous 2LP arrived on my doorstep minutes ago and I can't praise it enough. It's not the screwy pop-up version that I heard damaged the records. On the contrary, these gorgeous (and heavyweight!) clear records sound just incredible. They play at 45RPM (to blame, I imagine, for the odd 1-star reviews), so they sound above average. I expect no less from Sub Pop of course, who has consistently impressed me with their pressings. It also came with a hilarious little "exercises for listening" guide and a fold-out poster.Do I even have to rate the content of this album? One of my top albums for the year, and I've mostly stopped buying records. Get it get it get it. Snag a deal if you can, but just buy it! You won't be disappointed!

Unmistakably Josh Tillman - but a different iteration of the man we last heard from on Fear Fun. This time, he's parted ways with his "Canadian shaman" and has found himself rapt with the sentiment of a woman he loves. She does not detract from his ability to put tongue-in-cheek and act like it isn't there. Just as much of a detached-first-person songwriter as before; he has chosen his subjects differently this time.Vinyl notes: THIS RECORD PLAYS AT 45 RPM. (Playing it at 33-1/3 will sound slow to most of you: perhaps this is how others interact with the world but not me) I did not buy the Deluxe Edition therefore I cannot comment on warped discs. My standard black vinyl was a perfect pressing and sounds amazing.

Father John Misty's followup to his breakout 2012 album, Fear Fun, is a little less familiar and a whole lot more introspective and sonically enveloping. I was expecting a return to the magic of Fear Fun but this record is new territory and deserves to stand on its own merits. A well album full of well crafted songs, enormous soundscape, and honest, self-reflective lyrics that are wholly personal but capture our collective experience. Lastly, the vinyl packaging is beautiful and fill of extras.

Luckily, my record player has a setting that allows me to play a 45, but this vinyl is not a 33 and won't sound right if you don't have a record player that can adapt. Once on the correct setting, the record sounds fine but I was disappointed at the incorrect advertising.

I bought this vinyl for just $7.99 (Discount Groceries and More)! The album is excellent, one of my top 10 of 2015, easily. I think the price was low because the gatefold itself is a little warped and doesn't close completely flat. A small imperfection and a steal at just eight bucks.

Full of good music.

This is not a review of the music on this LP, which is excellent, but a review of the dismal quality of the LP pressing I received. I expected that a 45rpm double LP would have pretty stellar sound. However, the LP I received has unforgivably loud surface noise, is badly warped, and the centre spindle hole is off-centre, which results in a slightly warbly sound. When I can listen to this album in 24/88.2kHz resolution through my Tidal account, this record is is going back!

Si te gusta este álbum, pero aún no lo tienes en físico, debes conseguirlo. Se nota inmediatamente la dedicación que le han puesto a la edición del vinil, el póster que incluye cuenta en unas cuantas imágenes lo que el álbum ha tratado de explicar, excelente presentación en doble vinilo, lo he escuchado inmediatamente después de abrirlo.
