Easy reliable filter
Great filter. Very quiet and easy to maintain. There are lots of step by step YouTube video tutorials on how to set it up for the first time. I didn’t bother trying to make sense of the instructions that came in the box. I’ve had the filter for several months now and I haven’t had any problems with it.

Excellent Filter, but Arrived Damaged
It's a classic, simple design with almost no parts that can fail or break; the filter volume is quite large and unencumbered by complex internal construction. It's cheap, elegant in its function, and I give the filter 5 stars. My only complaint is that the intake pipe on the filter body was broken off in multiple pieces when it arrived, making it impossible to attach the intake tube to the filter. Luckily I'm handy with quick-setting marine epoxy, so I was able to reassemble and reattach the intake pipe in a water-tight fashion.

The Gold Standard
I have been using Eheim canister filters for decades. I have a pair of 2217 models on a 180 gallon tank. they have been running for at least 10 years.I set up a 40 breeder and was delighted to find a new 2213 available for a mere $88!I did augment the stock system with this, which is also excellent:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014FIOQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Recommend but...efficient, whisper quiet but construction vulnerability and maybe overstated flow rate.
This is an edited review I had done earlier...the change is my rating and comment on construction. My filter began a tiny dribble at the point of the intake in the joint. The elbow device that screws in at the base of the canister is simply a threaded plastic piece with an "O" ring at the base; it continued to dribble despite my checking it for a snug fit. One morning recently I opened the cabinet and saw that the deep roasting pan I have the filter sitting in (just in case!) now had 3 inches of water in it (up to the rim). Shut it off, unplugged it and scooped the water out, moved the filter to the sink and opened it up. The built in plastic housing with the threads in it was cracked, so the elbow part could not seal properly. So, this entire unit's ability to contain water under some pressure, depends on the integrity of a screw in plastic connection elbow and the strength of the threaded female portion in the canister. This doesn't detract from the superb performance of the filter, everything I previously said is true...but I was really disappointed to see (and suffer from) such shoddy design. A more reliable design could include a nut on the inside of the canister that could pull the connection more snuggly against the canister without putting torque on the housing itself.I had an Eheim a number of years ago and it was great, so when I renewed my aquarium interest recently I didn't hesitate to go back to Eheim again. I have a 24 gallon cube aquarium, heavily planted with CO2 injection, so chose the 2213 which is rated for up to 66 gallon aquariums. I used the media in the filter canister instead of all the sponge pads that are available separately, because it is what I'm used to...it gives me more flexibility.Filter is nearly silent, mine sits right next to our TV and I cannot hear anything beyond a little water movement in the aquarium...filter it quiet. Water is crystal clear and flow is perfect for my tank, I have the spray bar mounted horizontally on one side about 3 inches below the surface and angled slightly up but not breaking the surface, the intake is located on the opposite side in the back corner. Double-taps included make disconnecting a breeze for cleaning. This size is perfect for my 24 gallon, but I would say in my opinion I would not use it for anything larger. You could maybe go up to 30 gallons, but I would recommend the 2215 for anything in the 25-50 gallon range; same great filter just a little more flow.

leaking water after a few months
The media could not be loaded. I used this filter since January and it has worked well. I came home from work today and there was water all over the place. The canister started leaking from the bottom connection. I used plumbers tape while putting it together so this surprised me. I took it apart and noticed there was a crack on the inside of the plastic by the connector. I was hoping to find another plastic case to replace the cracked one, but could not find any for a decent price. One website wanted 70 dollars for the plastic case.

Best filter
I have a turtle tank, this is only filter that keeps my tank crystal clear. Bit tricky to get them started, but no better filter on the market.
