I bought this to add storage-space to my Fire TV. It plugs into USB port and Fire TV software automatically detects it and offers options as to its use. You can store apps on the flashdrive or not. This flashdrive is advertised as 64 gigabytes, but its actually about 56 gigs of usable space. Experience teaches that all these portable drives actually have less available space than listed because of internal software. This is a 3.0 flashdrive and its speed is fine. Apps load quickly.
