Good beginnings
This is bare bones info on whisky. A good start before you trip off to the package store. Excellent travel guide like info on Scottish distilleries. If you are looking for info on American spirits, you will be disappointed.

. . . Not a voluminous tome. But, then, it didn't come at a monumental cost either. It's been a while since I read it, but I recall it being a perfectly good primer and acceptable value.Slainte

Collins Whisky guide - great little book
This is the most up to date Collins books, wish it were more current, that is a handy travel companion. Notes are spot on. Price is good and condition excellent.

completo
Da una descrizione generale e completa delle cose, in dettaglio diverse distillerie. Consigliato per chi vuole entrare nel mondo del whisky. Ben fatto.

Wanted to learn some basics and this book helped me to do that
The list of different and scotches is helpful but I need to remember to bring my Kindle when I drive to NH for my tax free stock-ups.

Informative and fun
Excellent book. An essential read for the inquisitive beginner, and a good fun read and reference for the more experienced. Nice layout, excellent pictures, etc. Also very up-to-date. But where this book really shines is in his insights and his value judgements. I just love the extra categories of "Signature malt" and "Go on, treat yourself..." that accompany the "Core range" category for each listed distillery. And the man's taste and feel for quality can't be faulted."The fabulous fifty" is a great chapter; it's good and fun for the beginner to be told what one informed person thinks is really good and worthwhile whisky to buy. The more experienced can pick holes and disagree of course (I disagree that the Laphroaig 10 y-o is more of a flavour bombardment than the Quarter Cask), but who cares?Another plus is his way of describing whiskies with little insights that readers can easily relate to. His description of The Famous Grouse as being the Kylie Minogue of the whisky world is genius, and just one of many such nuggets.Buy, read and enjoy - with a dram of course!

Handy Little Guide
I've developed an interest in whisky over the last few years and bought this as something to put in my bag and read. I really enjoyed how detailed yet simplistic and colorful the book was. It would be suitable for those who know absolutely nothing about whisky, to those who really know a bit but what to brush up on their knowledge. The book takes you through the history and facts of whisky throughout the ages. The majority of the book lists whiskys including details of where they are from, tastes, colors, textures and dates. Very interesting book, will be using this again and again!

Good starter book for Whiskey lovers
This is a great little book for those new to sampling various whiskies. It details the main distilling areas, the types of whiskey such as downside, highland etc. It explains the way to taste and enjoy your favourite tipple and information about the brand. This is purely a beginner's guide, but a worthy purchase.
