GIBBONSlacklines Independence Kit

I purchased this as a gift for a friend's child. I had purchased the same model last year for my kids. This is a deceptively simple device, that provides hours of good, challenging, outdoor fun. My kids (ages 8-13) love it. I gather this is a basic or beginner type model, with many other variations available in the market, but I have found it totally adequate and I expect it will continue to entertain for at least a few years. Well made, easy to install, portable... a good value. For those of you unfamiliar with slacklining, I would liken this activity to the very best of basic simple outdoor endeavors, like a good swing, a bicycle, or a jungle gym.

A little hard to set up at first but once you learn how to do it, it's easy. Just becarefull that you keep the line straight otherwise the edges will fray. But I love my line.

I love to slack line, and this product is just wonderful and easy to use. If you want to learn how to slack line I suggest starting with a short line. It's a great core work out and improves balance tremendously. I highly suggest it to everyone. It shipped fast and got here before it said it would. I just love it.

I purchased this slackline for my son's birthday... his only gift from his siblings and me. Purchase date: May 10th. Estimated time of delivery: May 15-22nd. I was just hoping for the best. May 22nd came and went, and no slackline. I contacted the seller, and they refunded the nearly 30.00 shipping fee I was charged. (Their ad said free shipping, but apparently not to Alaska or Hawaii... wish they would have made that clear in the first place. Even the folks at Amazon were stumped as to why I was charged for shipping). We kept waiting, and my son kept asking about his gift.I eventually took the tracking number into my local post office, and the lady there said that it was shipped parcel post, and was stuck in California waiting for the next boat. Her estimated delivery date was June 13-27th. I was in utter disbelief. I contacted the seller again, and he said there was nothing they could do about it. We would just have to continue WAITING. Well, it seems to me that he could have gone to the post office and shipped another slackline to us for 12.00, via USPS Priority mail, gotten it to us in three days, and kept us a customer. They should have shipped it Priority mail in the first place instead of slow boat with an insane shipping fee! I have received packages from China within seven days of ordering! I have spent HOURS of my time on this! I am very, very disappointed.

I'm a slackling noob so I bought this thinking it would be a good intro... much to my more experienced friends' dismay. Apparently gibbon classics are solid at first but wear easily, and if you want to get the real deal you should invest in a 1" primitive set up. And if you can find someone who knows what they are doing, you can theoretically do this for cheaper.That being said, if you are a noob like me and don't have access to slackline snobs for guidance, this thing works fine and it's a lot of fun. However, I can see where the crank is already wearing on the line so I don't anticipate it will see many winters. Also I'll probably end up switching soon to the 1" primitive simply because 1" seems to be the most common among serious slacklining circles and highliners, and I'd rather train myself for those, before I get too attached to the feeling of a 2". (2" is actually not any "easier" to learn than 1" but just different... they have a very different feel.)So if you have the same concerns and are hoping to eventually get into more advanced slacklining––longer lines, highlines, etc.––it's probably best you skip the kiddie pool and go straight for the deep end, for the sake of future compatibility with that kind of equipment.

I haven't had a chance to use it much yet, but the kit is great.The setup is very easy.I think a heavy cloth bag or messenger type bag would be better for storage than the cardboard box provided, but other than that, the product is high quality.

This thing is so simple, head out to a park find two solid trees near each other and set up this portable hobby of yours. I've hooked it up to light polls, telephone polls, anything works. Having a slackline is an easy excuse to get out of the house and as it turns out, a great way to meet cool people. Believe me that because this is still such a new hobby in the states most people have never heard of, or seen a slackline. So when I set this up at a park I get people all day coming by to ask what this thing is because it looks like a lot of fun to them. Don't get discouraged when you're first starting off it takes practice. Great item I hope you purchase one.

The slack line is well made and meets our expectations. The ratchet needs to have a safer and easier release mechanism. After being under pressure for any length of time, releasing it can be a challenge. It is not easy for small females who may not have the hand strength.

Exactly what I wanted at a good price and fast shipping. Works well and in a pefect condition. I use it almost every day.
