ZGPAX S82 STILL NEEDS SOME IMPROVEMENTS
I bought this watch a couple weeks ago. Though my watch was the gold (pink-copper) color, I still posted my review under the silver watch since I expect functionally to be identical.Although the color in the photos of the gold version shows a gold colored case, the color is actually pinker, almost copper colored. I included a photo below to help you see what I mean. The case is aluminum, not plastic, which is very nice. For the first few days I loved moving around inside and outside the house with my phone on my wrist without having to carry a separate phone. It felt great getting in the car and going somewhere without needing to remember to grab a separate phone. But I was only able to use the ZGPAX S82 watch phone for about a week before I just couldn't use it anymore for the following reasons:First, this watch does not connect to the newer Bluetooth headset devices, only older ones that have been on the market for several years (or newer ones using older technology). I got the runaround from ZGPAX in China about this issue when asking for a firmware fix for this, and told them I'd post a review warning people to stay away from this model if they wouldn't fix this issue. So I've warned you.The Sennheiser, Jabra, and Plantronics Bluetooth headsets I tried don't work with this ZGPAX S82 watch. I could only get an inexpensive Emerson to work with the watch and my car Bluetooth system which is over five years old.Secondly the watch glass is very soft. I cracked mine on the corner of something somewhere without realizing it. Hence this is how I know the watch glass is very soft. Within two days the chip had spread crack lines to three sides of the face. If you do want to buy one of these watches, then I definitely recommend some kind of hard glass protector.Third, the transmitting power of the watch is fairly low. It seemed with every other phone call people were telling me they couldn't hear me very well. When driving my car, I had to keep my wrist up by the window so that the signal would be strong enough to the nearest cell tower for people to hear me better.Fourth, the date and battery charge text in the notification area were so small I could only read them with a magnifying glass, and there was plenty of room to enlarge the text to be the size of the time, which I could see just fine.Fifth, the battery would die half way through the day even though the battery charge indicator said 70 percent. I needed to install Juice Defender from the Google Play store to switch off Wi-Fi and Mobile Data when the screen was off to be able to make it through the day without recharging, but a lot of talking on the phone would drain the battery part way through the day regardless.Sixth, I did miss that this watch is not water proof. As a note, this ZGPAX S82 watch is not an Android Wear watch which means all of those hundreds of beautiful watch faces for Android Wear will not work on this watch. Although this is an Android 4.4.2 operating system, this watch limits you to the supplied watch faces, and none of the faces supplied with this watch are very good in bright light for seeing the time, day of the week, and date. Several of the supplied faces will show two of the three, but none show three of three well in bright light. After my experience with this watch, I think the Android Wear camp has things figured out where you use a watch in conjunction with a full size phone screen. I have to admit, it got very tiresome texting on a one inch screen even with Google Voice. A full size phone screen is just heavenly in comparison. I don't think most people will ever go for doing everything on these little 1 inch by 1 inch screens. But it is really nice to be able to instantly look at your watch to see what time it is, or who's calling, or read a text message that just came in without having to take the time to dig your phone out of its case or pocket before being able to see those things. This was my first phone watch. Obviously with a cracked glass I'm not using it anymore. I have since bought a normal size phone again and an LG Watch Urbane (Android Wear) to enjoy the benefits of an Android watch with hard glass, long battery life, and hundreds of beautiful watch faces to choose from, tethered to a phone so I can have the large phone screen when I want it, which is most of the time!Whatever watch you buy, I hope you enjoy it!
