It's all about Thrust Control.
It is a caulk gun. It pushes caulk. The handle is steel, the action is smooth, and the cartridges fit like they should. If you forget to adjust the thrust, you will drip from the tip. Once that starts, it will not stop. You can wipe, you can shake, you can curse. Nothing helps. Just a mess.Set the thrust correctly and it behaves. Clean lines, no surprises, no shame. Ignore it and you will learn why the option is there.certainly the best caulk gun I've owned, and I've seen a lot of caulk in my time...all-powerful deity willing, this is the last.

Good.
I purchased a Solid work Drip Free Cualk gun to replace a cheap cualk gun that I had. What a difference this made. Very well made. Easy to use. Everybody compliments me on the gun and they really like it and want to use it. Heavy duty tool. Thanks.

Happy Caulking
This is what a well made tool feels and performs like. I have owned numerous mid-grade caulking guns and they are ok performers. This my friends is so much better. Really allows you to get those great results through the control the tool offers. Well worth the spend.

Homeowner DIY perspective
this is more than I need for a casual 1-2 per year use. I'm sure pros would be more than happy. Its sturdy built. It will definitively outlast me with the casual use case I have of a home owner trying to save a buck with DIY.

A Bit Pricey, But Darn Well Worth It.
I should put my tools in a bag or make several trips up and down the ladder so the descent is more gentile for my tools. But, I am often tired and just rake the stuff off the roof onto the ground. My last quality calk gun lasted many years despite my abuse. Ultimately, the handle grip broke from a good drop. But, I really like this SolidWork as a replacement. It feels good in the hand and is more ruggedly built than the last. It works smoothly and the barrel rotates, so if you cut a bevel on the caulk tube's tip, you can make fine adjustment to get your bead right. The blue and black paint motif is even pleasing to the eye.
