Great for families w/ 8-12 yr olds
This is the best kids game I have picked up yet. I have about 50 of them, too, mostly from HABA and Blue Orange Games.King Me! takes familiar checkers moves and adds a dash of eurogame mechanisms. Each round, you do 2 diagonal moves/jumps and then flip a card, carrying out its event. The event is simple: scoring a region and/or moving all pieces on the river along the river). The game ends when the deck runs out, so it can't just drag on--it will never last more than 35-45 minutes. Then you get points for captured opponent pieces, for regions you controlled, and for king pieces on the board.I noticed that a few purchasers voted the game a 1 out of 5 stars due to its being too complex. Let me assure anyone with a modicum of initiative, it is not. The rulebook is short and clear, with examples and big pictures and bright colors. Iit took me all of 10 minutes to read the rules and another 5 or so to impart these to my kid. (He's 7, but he plays a lot of games.)I recommend this as a great game for a parent to play with his/her kids, esp. if the kid is 8-12. It would also be good for 2 kids in that range.

Not your average checker game!
We got this for Christmas, I was hoping it would be a 4 player game, because the board is so busy and colorful. But it's only for 2 people. Still Ravensburger games are guaranteed to be good! My kids are 11 & 13 and we all enjoyed it. You can only move diagonally, and you can strategize if the stream will get you to an area in time to win those points. Easy to learn, really only 4 steps to a turn.1. Move your playing piece/s. (2 pieces 1 move each or 1 king 2 moves)2. Event card3. Slide cards down the event time line toward the event space.4. Flip the next card to add to the event time line.

Too complicated
Overly complicated for no real reason. You have to skip certain aspects of the game for the first six rounds, meaning you have to keep track of how many turns you’ve had. You move your checkers twice each turn. Draw a card...every turn? After your 7th turn...? Maybe. I felt like I was playing the Bamboozled from Friends, hoping for a wicked wango card to rescue me.
