7 continent natural history filmmaking
A good series focusing on our 7 different continents and the unique animals and plants which live there. There's lots to admire in this series bit there are some bits that seem more concerned with trying to entertain rather than educate. The photography deserves special praise, the lighting and colours are gorgeous. I also don't underestimate the difficulty of some of the sequences captured here. My favourite sequence perhaps was the fireflies. If ever you were looking for a series to show off your 4K TV on this is it. While managing to capture the beauty of it all, the series does still remind you that nature is basically animals hunting and violently killing each other, often several times in one day. Other animals may go weeks before feeding again. The series does have a bit of a been there before feel. Elephants, whales, giraffes, kangaroos, seals, bears, rhinos and cheetas. People have a soft spot for big mammals and the BBC is only to happy to indulge them. Plants hardly feature, as was the case in Planet Earth II and The Blue planet II, they move on a slow time scale, they have no emotions, they don't have big cute eyes to stare at the cameras, or fluffy little chicks to mealt our hearts. Since the focus of these series is so much more on the efforts to thrill and entertain rather than educate no wonder plants are literally pushed into the background. The music swells in most scenes and points in scenes are underlined with naration and music with all the emotional subtly of a sledge hammer. Just like in Planet Earth II the camera cuts to another animals during dramatic scenes almost for a sort of reaction shot. I really did prefer series like the Trials of Life and Life on Earth which were delivered in a much calmer, detailed and matter of fact sort of way. When the approach was more scientific and based on the population instead of the individual. The truth partly underlined in the series is that there simply isn't that much wilderness left now and there aren't really any new big animals to bring to our screen. They could maybe feature some newly discovered beatles or something but the average Joe isn't going to like that. Where's all the popular animals they'll want to know. The masses aren't interested in learning in great detail about what enzymes are found in a special species of Jelly Fish, they want to see the same few big things again and again. Repitiin though now seems unavoidable in 2009 the BBC brought us chimpanzees using tools, just 10 years later they're now doing it again...The environmental message is once again spelt out in every episode, the same message we're given every time which no sensible person disputes yet we still seem collectively powerless to act on. Is everyone willing to stop driving their cars everyday, to give up meat, to stop buying so many new clothes and appliances? Is the BBC for that matter going to stop flying their film crews around the world every year to make programmes about humans are impacting the environment? Are governments going to find hundreds of billions in a time of recession and pandemic to make all our energy and travel 100% green? I think not....

One of David Attenborough's best presentations
The filming of various events that take place in each of the world's 7 continents is amazing. Especially the filming of various animals in the tropical forests, ranging from insects to large cats is stunning. As explained in the "extras" on disc 3, most of the filming was accomplished by drones, but not all, where some of the crew put themselves in danger of being attacked by some of the animals. David Attenborough is not just a man in a million. He must be unique on the entire planet. Nobody knows nature better than him.The colours are absolutely amazing and the 4K image is unbelievable. Well worth buying.

An absolute joy to play.
This review is for the 4k blu ray.I have Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II in 4k and both are of extremely high standard in picture and sound, but Seven Worlds, One Planet, is a step above in both categories. On a home cinema system the Dolby Atmos soundtrack (which plays as Dolby True HD through my Yamaha) has a depth and crispness I have never heard through my speakers before, with imaginative use of all channels, while sequences such as the blue-faced, snub-nosed snow monkeys are utterly breathtaking. Each episode is a revelation and I'm delighted I waited to see the series until the 4k version came out on blu ray disk. If this is should be Sir David's last hurrah (and let's sincerely hope not) it will be an entirely worthy one.

Stunning Demo quality
If you want to see how good that UHD TV or projector is, THIS is THE disc you need, stunning colour, pin sharp resolution, immersive DOLBY ATMOS sound. If only all UHD discs were that good! As for the content, what can you say other than just magical.

Great series , good value
Good value with loads of footage. I was a bit disappointed with the picture quality at times as it was sometimes no better than HD. Having said that the kids have enjoyed it as well. I don't normally bother watching the behind the camera bits at the end of each episode but they were really good, especially with the Elephant seals.

Amazing scenery and very Educational
I have only seen half of these, but the scenery is amazing and its very educational... Shows different animals and how they survive in different environments... But shows the cost of human creed to the environment and how we are destroying the earth and some of these beautiful creatures are now on the edge of extinction... very beautiful to watch but very cruel and very sad at what we as humans are doing.....
