Rough Ryder Marlin Spike Yellow, One Size, RR897

It is surprising how well made, good looking, and good feeling this knife is. Sring tension holds the knife blade open well enough to be fine without being locked in place. I wouldn't pull that bail lever back any more than I absolutely had to to unlock the marlin spike. If it ever breaks, I will replace it with a bigger one. Totally happy with this knife.

My expectations weren’t super high given the price point. I bought this to throw in my tool box. But the locker is brass and runs the length of the handle. The blade is better than expected, 440 stainless. So far, the lock on the spike seems solid. Plus, unlike other sailing knives I own, the spike lock has a lanyard hole. It’s heavier than I would have thought, and the build quality seems decent. Please note I haven’t had a chance to really test it, but my first impression is good. Totally worth the price.

The fit and finish are amazingly well done with no blade wobble. The Marlinspike is smooth and highly polished, which works great even with 550 Paracord and 3/32” paracord. The bail/lanyard hoop is heavy-duty. Overall a very beautiful functional tool to be cherished and proud of.

Nice knife for the money, good fit and finish and the marlin spike locks up solid. Should come in handy dealing with stubborn knots.

Seems like a quality build, but I ended up returning it for another option with a blade lock. The lock on the marlin spike did seem to be very strong. Enough so that I was surprised how easy it was to release. Ifd you like an Old Timer or Case style knife, this is a good option.

Gave as Christmas gifts to Marines ready to deploy they were happy.

I have all four of the handle varities of this knife..all well made and pretty..I love the plain white bone handle..screams for some scrimshaw on it..just might do that. However this vendor had a good price on this knife but very slow shipping..too slow. I ordered the knife on May 24th and now its June 3rd and it is still somewhere in transit..I would have used a different vendor if I knew this company took so long to ship..not good..5 stars for the knife..1 star for the vendor..only thing good about the vendor was the price..pony express would have been faster.

Use it for camping/hiking with a hammock. I found out about the Marlin Spike and it's perfect for camping when on a knife. Use it for a lot including knots tightened by my body weight in the hammock. It's camping and not boating but it seems sturdy enough!
