Good construction, easy to install
The damper arrived in good condition, and I had no problems installing it, even though it was my first installation of this type. For those of you who haven't seen one up close, the end opposite the handle end has a spring-loaded bolt. Once you drill the holes on the opposite sides of the duct, you remove the wingnut and the handle, then insert that "handle" bolt through the hole from inside the duct. The bolt on the other end pushes flush with the edge of the damper, which allows you to push the other end of the damper over the opposite bolt hole until that bolt is centered over it and can push through. Sturdy construction and no burrs or sharp edges.

What can I say?
Product works as expected, modified so it would be air-tite.

Restrict air flow
Had a room that got too hot and too cold installed this in the boot to reduce airflow and it worked great.

8 inch duct volume damper
The blade is of a robust gauge, the hardware is mounted securely onto blade. Be sure to make your holes in duct they are to be mounted into large enough and take the time to line up both holes. If the hole alignment is off, you will need to drill again, not fun, take your time. A washer is provided, it goes on first, I apply some flexible sealant to create an air tight seal, then the wing nut. Be sure to get the wing nut on straight and not crooked, it will not tighten if it is not square, be patient. Because the blade is like 24 gauge, it is strong and provides a solid assembly, Not able to find at HomeDepot or Lowes, had to order on line, worth the wait.

No nut and threads boogered
Doesn't come with a wingnut or washer for one side so have to go get those. And the threads on that stud are boogered up from the slot thats cut into it so have to clean that up to get the nut on that if i haven't mentioned already doesn't come with it. Ordered a 6" from a different supplier that installed in 3 minutes, this one will take much more of my time.

Solid end of bolt on mechanism is broken off of ...
Solid end of bolt on mechanism is broken off of unit. Not usable this way. Came full of oil and still has shear edge on perimeter. I did metalwork years ago and this is not something that would go out the door without cleaning up the edge. Broken tab is hard to imagine once in the box under bubble wrap, but loose wingnut and bolt were included...

Built Well
Built well, not flimsy. Easy install. Just what I had hoped for to throttle back the output from my shop furnace. Furnace flowed so well in my shop through this 8" pipe it didn't have any back pressure to allow the furnace to work correctly - didn't warm up. Added this damper and "Shazam" we have controlled heat...

Nice fit but end broke.
The fit of this is good but one end broke off while installing it. I had all the ductwork apart, so taped it and left it in there but will need to replace again. Was mine a weakened one? Perhaps. 😕
