It does what it says, When the control load (TV in this case) is on or off, the switched load (amplifier) is also switched on or off. Saves energy and wear on the amp.

I bought this along with the Tricklestar plug in energy monitor, and was actually surprised to find that this device has a higher standby power consumption (0.7 Watts) than any of the things I planned to plug into it: (TV (0 Watts), Playstation (0.35 Watts) and retro-Nintendo NES (0 Watts). However, the cable box comes in at 11.2 Watts ($15 per year), so I decided to move that from "always on" to a switched outlet, and just allow the extra time for that to boot up when tv comes on. If I hadn't done that, this would have increased my electricity usage (fifty cents per year).The device works well for switching things on and off together, as advertised.

This product uses one device (a "master device") to determine if other devices will be powered or not. Since Roku streamers have no off switch, they will often continue to stream video even though you have powered down your TV system. This can cause issues when multiple streaming devices are being used since some services, like YouTube TV, limit the number of concurrent streams to 3. Using the Tricklestar device with the TV as the master device and the Roku as a "switched" device, once I turn off my TV, the Roku is automatically powered down and therefore will no longer be streaming video! This product is cleverly designed and well made. I highly recommend it!

I bought this to turn on a fan when the aquarium chiller came on. It wouldn't work for that at all. I tried both settings. So I tried it on my TV to switch the Roku on and off. I tried both settings. It worked most of the time but sometimes it just wouldn't turn the Roku back on no matter how many times I tried it. I had to get up, unplug the Roku and plug it back in to another outlet. Well I would try it again later and it would work...for a while. Then it wouldn't. So I decided to return it. Well I'm a few days late and Amazon says that window has closed. Also, I don't see where support is offered for it. I guess I'll just throw it away. Maybe yours will work better. Maybe!

This power board is used for my power tools with dust collection attached. It saves me having to power the power tool up and then the dust collector ... sometimes forgetting to do so ... The only downside is there is a few seconds delay from the power tool is turned on and the dust collector starts up.

Used this to turn on cooling fans in Rear of AV cabinet when PS4 pro is powered on. Gaming consoles don't like cabinets with a back on them as that is where they expel heat.

I got this to turn the Roku Stick off when my TV is turned off. The problem was that streaming services continue to play on Roku even if the TV is turned off. This works exactly as expected. TV is on the master outlet, and when switched off (manual or sleep timer) it stops the Roku playback, too.

I used this to create a power situation where my ROKU device on my kitchen TV was only powered on when the TV was on. This is easy to do by making the TV the "master" input. Works great. A bit bulky, but it has to be.
