APEX 5 Stage Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System - Made in U.S.A.

Update at year 2. This is used primarily 6 months a year, but to date is still producing crystal clear water. I have this system providing our frig water now too.Easy to install. We are on a well and have whole house filtration, but still have tannins in our water. This Apex MR5050 5 stage unit gives us crystal clear clean good tasting water. To qualify we have a $15,000 4 stage water filtration system in front of this that can only extract tannins the first month after we replace the media every 3 years.Update after 1 year still performing great. Crystal clear good tasting water, More importantly no discoloration from the tannins.

I order this unit thinking I was getting an APEC unit. I had the APEC in our previous home and had no issues with it. I realized much later that I did not have an APEC unit but an APEX! Names are close to each other and confusing.So we decided to keep it and use it. As I am writing this Long term review, we have had the unit for four years. It was good the first year and into the second year. However, in year two a plastic housing at the bottom developed a crack and flooded my kitchen. Luckily, we were home and caught it on time before it did major damage.The company charged me for the replacement housing stating that it was out of warranty. When I replaced the cracked housing, I also changed the filters too. When I opened the plastic housings to do the filter change, I noticed that another housing had a few cracks on the inside. This was another disaster waiting to happen. So I called the company, ready to order another housing. They sent the housing to me free of charge and did not charge me for shipping either. Kudos to their customer service. They are great and very responsive.My water quality has been terrible for the last year or so. I replaced the entire filter set again and did not see any improvement in the water quality. I am not sure what is going on.I finally gave up and just ordered an APEC unit and finished installing it yesterday. The water tases (actually no taste) the way it should. So far, I am happy with the APEC unit. We shall see how it holds up in the long run.

Next update (we give up):We just cannot give this a good rating. It has broken 3 times in the past few months. We have had to have several new parts shipped to us. We’ve also experienced black sludge coming from the faucet. The customer service guys are great (we know them well now), but the product is very cheap and not well made. Do yourself a favor and get something else.Update:I got a hold of the company and they were very nice and helpful. They sent us the part we needed to fix the problem. So even though I would say the product isn’t the highest quality you could buy, the customer service is great.Previous review:I’m very confused by all of these good reviews. This is made very cheaply, I had to go to Lowe’s to get some quality parts for it.After installation, it has been vibrating very loudly while in use. I’ve tried to contact the company many times about this with absolutely no response.Do yourself a favor and go with something else.

Easy to install and wster tastes great.

Very happy with the Apex R/O system. This system replaced a 9 year old system that needed membrane and filters. The price was right for this system as it is brand new. I hope it gives me many years of good tasting water.
