Help. I covered the tip with 3 layers of cloth still runs out quickly. What works?

I might depend on the soil. I watered my plants thoroughly before putting the watering swans in the next day. I live in Phoenix, so it's very dry here. They released the water slowly over the course of 3-4 days. If your plants are dry when you put them in, the water will will be absorbed right away.

how much time does it take to fill the water? Pipe opening looks very thin.

How long does the water last? Will it work to leave the plants a week while on vacation?

I couldn't get mine to hold water for very long at all. I tried the tips and tricks provided by other purchasers with no avail. I was disappointed with this purchase.
