Not a universal fit
Buyers beware that this unit does not fit all CD slots. In my case, the three prongs do slide in as far as they can go but not far enough. When the button is released, the middle prong does not raise into a locking position as intended and therefore the button remains pressed in. The button releases only when I remove the unit from the slot. The reason for a 3 star rating is that the fit is very tight so I can still use it. How long it will last with the button's spring under constant pressure is left to be seen. The cradle holds the phone reasonable well so it's not a total loss. FYI, 2007 VW Jetta.

Koomus CD-Slot Car mount review used in Acura ILX 2016
Purchased Koomus CD-Slot Smartphone Car Mount. Tried this in 2 vehicles: Honda Odyssey 2016 and Acura ILX 2016. Using specifically with iPhone 6. Can be used in both vehicles, but I am using it in Acura ILX because it is more comfortable for that vehicle (for Odyssey, using Koomus CD-Air). Unit is very easy to plug into the CD slot, but you do need to use both hands. Also, I would recommend inserting it into the center of the slot - it is possible to move it a bit to either side, but I would be concerned about cracking the outside plastic of the CD slot. Make sure to push it all the way in gently with both hands - otherwise it will not have the grip required so that it does not come out during use. You can put the unit in 2 different ways (180 degree mount rotational difference). It does make a configuration difference of how it will sit over the dashboard and what it will cover. If you do have a CD already inserted into the CD slot, it will still play fine - just don't try to eject it when this Car Mount is in the CD slot.Usage - while the ball head will allow for some movement, it is not substantial - just enough to turn it sufficiently to the driver. This is why I feel it will work better in smaller vehicles - larger vehicles need a a mount with longer adjustable reach. It can also be easily rotated with one hand into horizontal or vertical position. You can put the phone into the cradle with one hand easily, a bit more difficult to take it out with one hand, but it is possible. The spring of the expandable grip is not as tight as I've experienced on a similar unit - my phone did not slip out, but I have a feeling it is possible for the phone to slip out depending on the type of the phone case used and how rough the roads are (especially if it is thick) - I am using Seidio SURFACE Case, which is very slim. The plate of the grip is big enough (has large surface area) and the grip holds it well in place to provide support for tapping and using the phone with a finger. The phone (when used in Acura ILX 2016) does cover portion of the touch screen (used in vertical placement), but most of the touch screen is easily reachable and seen (you can see how much it covers in my photos). You can also rotate and use it in a horizontal position which will alleviate the issue of covering the dashboard touch screen. While driving, especially on streets, the phone/screen does visibly shake, but not enough to be distracting or non-usable.Pros: unobtrusive yet fully usable (for the driver eyes) placement, does not take up or cover any windshield areas (compared to mounts using suction cups), easy to install and easy to remove, CD player is fully functional (when the CD is inserted prior to mount installation), phone can be placed into cradle with one hand, easy to adjust to your usage, pressure can be applied directly onto the phone for one finger usage.Cons: have to be careful installing/taking out the unit from the CD slot - I feel it is possible to break the plastic outershell of the CD dashboard mount. Phone shakes a bit on the road, especially street driving (but not enough to distract). General construction - time will tell, but I see a possibility of the plastic ball joint connection breaking over time.

Great product and no messy rings on the windscreen : makes using waze a dream
easy to install and remove. Holds the phone really well. and is easily adjustable. bought 3 of these for my friends. make sure there are no large knobs or parts of the dashboard sticking out near your CD slot as this may affect your ability to install

Works well for my 2014 Mini Cooper
This CD mount works very well in my 2014 Mini Cooper. Because the 2014 Mini CD player is curved, it was hard to find a mount that worked (most would not insert far enough into the CD player to be stable, and/or they would look awkward because they were flat along the edge that inserts into the player, whereas the CD player is curved, so the set-up looked really awkward and junky). However, this Koomus mount is quite small, meaning it doesn't run the whole length of the CD player. Rather, it just takes up maybe about half of the CD player, so the juxtaposition of the curved player along the edge of the straight mount is hardly noticeable. Also, because the mount is so small/narrow/compact, it can be shifted to either edge of the player (or you can stick it right in the center if you like). Because of the limited dash-space in my Mini, I slide my CD mount all the way toward the driver-side of the car. That minimizes how much of my A/C control/display is covered by the mount, along with how much of the stereo display is blocked. Also, if I insert the mount as far to one side of the CD player as I can get it, it makes more room for whatever cup is in my cup-holder (usually a giant 44 oz. diet soda). Other mounts that I tried sat/hung far too low on the dash and completely blocked my access to the cup-holder as well as access to my A/C display/controls. As Mini drivers know, there is almost no dash-space to be had, so it is almost impossible to find a place to put your phone. However, this mount solves that problem. My only slight complaint about the mount is that it only holds/clamps the phone from the two sides, and there is no additional plate/arm for the phone to rest on. It's not a huge deal for me because I rotate the mount so that my phone sits horizontally versus vertically, so it doesn't slide anywhere. However, I think the set-up would feel a bit tighter if there were a third arm/plate supporting either the top or bottom of the phone. I guess one other minor complaint is that the mount isn't super easy to slide open to dock the phone, meaning it cannot be done with one hand (which many other mounts offer). You need both hands to dock the phone while sliding the two arms open. Because of that, you really need to place the phone in the mount before you ever start driving. Once you're mobile, it would be far too dangerous to fiddle with docking the phone. Nevertheless, for a compact and functional CD mount that fits a challenging Mini Cooper dash, this mount is very good and I would recommend it.

This is really nice idea. Probably the best solution for the iPhone ...
This is really nice idea. Probably the best solution for the iPhone car holder. However it is quite expensive and it lasted only 9 months.

Great idea, poorly executed...
I installed this CD mount holder in a Infiniti EX37 and a 2011 Ford F150. I used to have a Mountek CD mount holder, but it requires the use of metal shim to provide something for the magnet to grab (limiting your case options). Also, the magnet wasn't that strong, so if you drove on a less than smooth road it would eventually slide off (like most magnet phone holders).I purchase this holder as it had great promise to address the above issues, and still look clean on the dash, but...Pro's:- +2 Unit is small and looks well made.- +1 The head has decent spring tension and holds my iPhone 6 wellCons:-2 The spring loaded wedge isn't strong enough to hold the unit in the CD slot in either a Infiniti EX37, or a 2011 Ford F150, making this effectively useless.I'm uncertain why there are so many positive reviews on such a flawed product, nor do I understand how this product made it through QA without testing it in the most popular vehicle in the world (F150). The wedge into the CD slot should be secured with a stronger mechanical advantage typically with a screw style. This is an unbiased review, and I paid full price for this mount, and subsequently returned it.

Sick!
Overall I was very impressed with this holder. It's easy to use and does exactly what it's designed for.It fit easily into the CD slot of my 2012 Toyota Yaris and felt very firm, as per my wiggle test. I couldn't easily remove it without pushing the button and so I don't think it's going anywhere. The swivel works easily but holds firm. The phone does jiggle while driving on bumpy roads, but that's to be expected. The phone clamp itself works easily. I have a Nexus 5 without case and it fit very nicely. There was minimal blocking of my stereo. I could still see and access all the controls easily, but part of the display was obscured. That was also as expected and didn't bother me in the slightest. I could also have moved the phone off-centre in the CD tray to minimize this obstruction, but it was more important to me to have the phone in a good position for viewing it.There was some distortion to the foam in the CD player. I personally don't care since to me the CD player is useless. I'm planning to drive this car into the ground and don't care about resale value. But if you sell your car every couple years, that might be an issue (unless you include the phone holder!)
