Expensive camera, but the picture quality is excellent
With an expanding family I thought this camera would be ideal to capture special moments. I’m not the most tech savvy person but I do have a better half who is happy to be called a geek and he has had a lot more fun with this camera than I have; setting it up and offering me basic tutorials. The picture quality is amazing and captures crisp clear images. It’s also easy to switch from camera to video mode. There is a somewhat intimidating looking manual which I am still slowly working my way through (which I think it almost as heavy as the lightweight camera), but I’m happy with what I have accomplished so far with this camera even though there’s plenty more to learn. I am getting to the stage that I can quickly snap away, and even when I think I may end up with a blurred photo, I can’t get over the picture quality this camera produces.

Light and compact
still getting to grips with the Z50, this is somewhat easier if you've used a Nikon DSLR before however it does take sometime to get used to all the features. so its a camera for a 'committed' amateur. The camera is compact and light and so great to use when travelling. I love the ease of transferring photos to my phone or laptop and images are of a really high quality.

Excellent midrange camera
This Nikon Z50 is designed to be compact and lightweight, there is a large hand grip that has a rubbery texture which feels nice, the camera itself feels very comfortable when holding. All of the buttons are easily reached with your right hand but don't worry the camera is very light. The camera is a mixture of metal and plastic unlike some mid range camera's that are usually just plastic. The top of the camera features a record button, The ISO button and exposure compensation button just behind the shutter release button and on/off switch, giving quick access to the settings. There's also a front command dial and one on the top. The pop up flash is neatly hidden on the top and doesn't even look like it has one at all. The camera uses an EXPEED 6 image processor which features built-in diffraction compensation, as well as picture control sharpness adjustments. You’ll also find creative picture control, scene modes, and special effects mode - effects levels can be adjusted between 0 to 100. Effects can also be applied in movie recording. One great feature is the 4K UHD video recording that uses the "full-frame" of the APS-C sensor and can record at 30, 25 and 24fps. You can take still images while recording video. Video includes Active D-lighting, electronic VR, focus peaking and picture control is available. Video recording in self-portrait mode is also available. You can record FullHD video at speeds up to 120fps. There’s a microphone socket on the side, supporting an external microphone. Nikon's SnapBridge is supported, with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This lets you transfer images and movies, use location and data information, browse images from a smartphone, transfer raw files, add credit information, auto upload to Nikon Image Space, and shoot remotely. There is a single SD card slot, which can be found underneath the camera, in the same compartment as the battery. Here is a list of the Nikon Z50 features. 20.88mp APS-C CMOS sensor (5568x3712 resolution) Nikon Z mount EXPEED 6, 14-bit raw 3.2inch 1040K dot monitor, touch-screen controls on the side, tilts vertically down for selfie mode EVF 2. million dots, 0.68x magnification 209 Phase Detection AF points, -4EV focus sensitivity 90% horizontal/vertical frame coverage Face and Eye detection AF ISO100 to ISO51200 1/4000s shutter speed 11fps continuous shooting 4K UHD video recording Nikon Snapbridge support, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Magnesium body (front and top panel) Built-in pop-up flash (GN7) 450g with battery and memory The rear screen is worth mentioning, as it’s a 3.2inch touch-screen, that can be tilted up and down (as well as tilting down and facing forwards) for selfies. This means the screen isn't obstructed by the viewfinder, when facing forward, however. The menus are easy to navigate and follow the same familiar design layout as other Nikon Z and D cameras, with each section colour coded. There's also a "MyMenu" section so that you can get quick access to all of your favourite settings. One thing I like about the package is the battery charger which just plugs straight into your socket with the battery inserted into it with no cables running along the floor. Video - The Z50 offers 4K UHD video recording at frames rates of 30, 25, and 24fps. You don't have to worry about switching between NTSC and PAL modes. You can record FullHD video at frame rates up to 120fps, with 100, 60, 50, 30, 25, and 24fps available. You can also select 4x and 5x slow-motion FullHD video. The camera gives you a choice of MP4 or MOV file formats. There's a dedicated switch to switch between the photo mode and video mode and to start recording video you press the red video record button next to the shutter release button. There's a side 3.5mm microphone socket. If you're not using a lens with optical image stabilisation, then there is electronic image stabilisation (VR) available, which crops into the frame slightly. 4K video recording uses the full width of the sensor. My only gripe is there aren't as many lenses available as other systems. There are several full-frame Z-mount lenses available from Nikon which you can use on the camera however you may go for another manufacturer also doesn't feature in-camera image stabilisation.

I love this camera...
I LOVE taking photo's, it's a minor hobby of mine so I was over the moon to get the chance to review a Nikon camera. Fire of all it's lightweight. not to heavy when you hold it in the hand for long periods of time, which when your shooting can be a real concern after a while. I tend to get wrist strain holding heavy camera's so this was a nice plus for me. The neck strap is comfortable and adjusting it is easy enough, it dosnt cut into your neck if your wearing it for a while which again is another bonus for me. The touch screen can take some getting used to. I've been fiddling around with it and I have found that sometimes I'll touch it without meaning to when shooting a photo and that can be a bit annoying but again I just think it's something I need to get used to. The camera is very simple to use, the menu's are easy to access and not confusing if you have a basic knowledge of digital camera's. if you don't I would highly recommend getting a how to book to help you get the most of out your camera. The video recording is outstanding, 4K and a choice to record MP4/MOV files so if your a vlogger this is a brilliant camera. the touch screen flips down so you can see yourself filming while you film so you can make sure your still ins hot. The auto focus is brilliant and again easy to use but manual focus again will take a bit of getting used to if your not used to using it. The camera ease is really easy to install and switching out lenses will be very easy to do. I do think an extra battery should be included, but I'm sure it'll be easy enough to buy some more. I've taken some lovely photo's with this camera and I cant wait to record this years Christmas with this camera.

Great package, but you may want an extra lens
This is quite some camera. We put it up against our Canon equivalent (albeit a little older) and it performs really well. The slow exposures are excellent, crisp clear images, pretty darned versatile even with this single lens. I guess one of the issues with this type of camera is you do need to have maybe two or three lenses to take out unless you know what you plan to shoot. We tried this in an art gallery as part of my son's course research and the level of detail which can be captured is excellent. Then we went out to an illumination exhibition outdoors in the evening to see how it coped with light and dark, movement and stills. The results on all counts are just so impressive even for us total amateurs. More experienced photographers should have a ball with this camera. One slight issue is the touch screen. Far too easy to take an accidental shot, and the way it levers out and around is OK but could have been just a tad better. A bit nit-picky to knock off a star for that, but it is a niggle in use. Otherwise this does seem to justify its premium positioning by Nikon.

the camera is not European market
I ordered a Nikon z50 unfortunately it turned out camera is meant to be for the USA, Canada, Brazil market . I contacted Nikon to check this camera, they said " the camera is not European market, and you will not be eligible for a warranty repair with Nikon UK " . Also The camera does not have an extended version of languages. I am returning the item.
