Columbia Men's Bonehead Long Sleeve Shirt,White Cap,X-Large

Great for fishing and outdoors
I have several of these shirts, here is why:1. They are cotton; nice feeling and you are not stuck inside a plastic film (polyester)2. They are wide, I am normally a XL, this shirt I use an L size and still have plenty of room.3. Long sleeve: great for fishing and outdoors, you don't burn your arms.4. There is a vented mesh on the back, you can feel the wind and cool down a little5. Several pockets on the front to keep anything at hand but protected and secure from falling6. You can pull up the sleeves and have them secured at mid arm levelI would recommend them to any fisherman and outdoors person, they come in many different colors and sizes. They sometimes have great discounts.

#1 Choice for Florida Gulf Coast (order one size smaller)
This is my go-to everyday shirt for south Florida, where long sleeves are a must for sun protection, but where the heat and humidity are also oppressive. This shirt, worn open over a wicking T-shirt is a winner, since the Columbia Bonehead is amazingly well ventilated. Great for beach walks, fishing, and everyday wear. Walk around down here and you'll see people everywhere wearing this Columbia PFG shirt, for good reason. My oldest shirt is about four years old now, has been worn heavily, and is still going strong.I was surprised (shocked!) to see the low average rating for this shirt, given how popular it is down here and how well it performs. Then I read the reviews and realized most of the negatives had to do with sizing. This shirt (like most Columbia gear) runs large by a full size. I normally wear a Medium, but for this shirt a Small fits me very comfortably with a little room to spare. So order one size down.I prefer this cotton version of the shirt. When I know I'm in for a sweatfest, I wear it over a wicking poly T-shirt to get the best of both worlds.

Not just for fishing! Great anytime shirt!
He loves, loves this shirt! It is his closet go-to with his favorite jeans. The Sunset Red is more of a dark rich salmon color. I say this as I was expecting a deep Moab, Utah rusty rock look and instead it is less rusty with a bit more pink. However! It is still a gorgeous color! Looks great with a dark grey t-shirt: Gildan DryBlend 50 Cotton/50 DryBlend Poly T-Shirt-XL (Dark Heather) Hubby also has the Commando color, it is a blue-fir green, not teal and not evergreen. He loves it, too. Both mediums fit exactly as a large should fit. Not too snug in his slightly bulging belly, not too tight on his medium framed arms.It is a lightweight shirt, with vents for cooling. Great pockets to hold his field work items, like sample bottles, cell phone, note pad/pen, and easy access emergency kit essentials (bandaids, fire starter, etc).Tip: Roll up the sleeves and secure them BEFORE putting the shirt on. Much easier!

Great shirt for outdoor HUMID weather and MANY handy utility pockets
I have been traveling to Mexico. I was visiting the Yucatan area (Campeche State) and touring Maya Ruins. The weather is extremely humid and hot. I bought this long sleeve fishing shirt to help climb Mesoamerican pyramids in high humidity. The fit of the shirt was perfect for me. (WARNING: I kept the MEDIUM SIZED shirt, I returned the small). I had plenty of room and it was well ventilated. Sleeve length was perfect and there was plenty of room around the abdominal area. Even though it was extremely warm & humid I decided to wear a long sleeve shirt to keep sun exposure to a minimum. I noticed most of the local men wore long sleeve shirt and long pants too. Most of the tourists wore short sleeve shirts and short pants. I spoke with some of the tourists (from US, England, Netherland, and Germany). I was surprised to find that many fair-skin caucasians from Northern Europe did not have problems with the sun exposure. They seemed very comfortable in short sleeve shirt and short pants. I think sun exposure is not the problem, it is the humidity that makes you sweat and drain your energy. This shirt also had many utility pockets which helped me keep my photography accessories within easy access.

This Is Not UPF Protected Material
Yes, it's a nice visible fishing shirt that is well-made and comfortable. Smart shopping on size and color will give you some great bargains instead of having to pay the typical $44.00 price. I paid $14.99 for an XXL in Spring Green. However, this shirt does not offer UPF protection, something extremely important to me since I just had a melanoma removed from my back. Fifty-five stitches later and a clear margin diagnosis allowed me to avoid further surgery and treatment. But guess what? I don't want to do that again! So yes, this is a well-constructed fishing shirt with a great visible color, has some great storage pockets, loops to allow you to roll up the sleeves, is vented to help (hopefully) keep you cool, and can be machine washed. A great fishing shirt all the way around EXCEPT for the sun protection that we all probably need.

but I'm not happy with the feel or the fit
I suppose this comes down to a matter of personal taste, but I'm not happy with the feel or the fit.I cannot attest as to the durability of the product since I have not worn it out in the field...and may never do so.I will probably give it away.I wanted a soft cotton shirt, and at the time I ordered this, the first line of the description was "100% cotton."My fault for now delving deeper... It's actually a cotton poplin blend, and I don't find it as soft as my old worn-out cotton shirt. Also, I first ordered the medium because I have the same type of shirt in a different brand that fits in a medium. This shirt is MUCH too big for me. I don't like returning items, so I am giving this it to a friend.I placed a second order but in a Small this time. It also is larger than expected.I will probably give this away as well. From my perspective, I did not expect such a size fitting discrepancy from Columbia nor did I expect the feel of this material to bebe this stiff and not as soft as other cotton shirts that I have.To be fair, I give this 3-stars since I cannot attest to the durability but only to the size issue along with the 2 types of cotton listing.

the lining is comfortable and the pockets give me plenty of carrying options
Even though the shirt is far too big for me, I have worn it around the house for a few hours. It is very well made, the stitching is neat and even, the lining is comfortable and the pockets give me plenty of carrying options. I won't return it but will buy a smaller version as well. I do totally recommend this shirt, but beware of the sizing guides, in other items the XL size is a comfortable fit, in this XL it is like wearing a tent.

Great shirt.
Cannot get a similar shirt in the UK. The Columbia make has been going for years and the shirt does what I want it to. Thank you.

Increible
