This anchor is fantastic. My cruiser came with an undersized fluke anchor that refused to set and almost got us in a couple of accidents. After researching delta anchors and older-model Rocnas, I learned about the Vulcan anchor as being particularly good with bow rollers. The videos on the Rocna site demonstrated the engineering behind the Vulcan anchor well, and it seemed well-suited for my uses in the muddy Potomac river. THIS ANCHOR SETS LIKE A CHAMP ... EVERY TIME!!! Plus, the lack of moving parts and smooth surface all around makes it more resistant to hydrilla and river grass accumulation than other anchors I've used. Added bonus: I was fortunate to buy an open-box item from Amazon at a significant discount and the item was like new. I remain happy with this anchor.

Worth it's weight in gold
Holds as if it were attached to the core of the earth. I'm stunned by how fast & hard this anchor sets. Ironically, the first time we used this anchor was in an emergency. Someone (not me, of course) lost the boat key while swimming. While awaiting rescue from a friend the currents & waves strengthened and the anchor didn't budge an inch. When we were finally brought the spare key we had been out for about 8 hours & it took all my strength to pull the anchor, even will directly on top of it. It's worth its weight in hold!

Great anchor!!! but get the correct size the first time ..
Ok .. to start off with I have a 1985 38 ft 22000 lb Chris craft Corinthian. at this time we are on a lake in Georgia .. 2 year ago I purchased the size 15kg 33 lb Vulcan. although It has been fantastic and made anchoring out joyable again, unfortunately it is to small for my boat , and that's My mistake. being on the lake we have currents to worry about or tides, and rarely got stuck in foul weather and it has worked flawless for the past 2 years .. at the end of this year we will be make our way to the gulf coast, so this time I purchased the right size for our boat, the 20kg 44 lb Vulcan to replace it .. I've had great offers to sell the 33lb at the marina but I'm just not comfortable with getting rid of the old hook yet .. when I first got the 33 lb the only modifications that was needed was moving the bottom pulpit roller aft to make the opening through the pulpit larger, l just needed to drilled two new holes and install the roller ..the 44 lb also fit the same modification. This anchor digs in and sets fast! In muddy lake bottom it will bring up a plug of mud up with it.. as you can see from my photo its a perfect fit for my bow pulpit. I haven't found any flaws to the anchor or its galvanized coating after 2 years. But I am in fresh water .. It seems that after time the galvanized coating get smoother and easier to recover the anchor from the bottom..

Works as described
Finally, an anchor that actually holds my boat perfectly. The boat came with a normal fluke anchor, but in the sandy bottoms of North Carolina's intercoastal waterway, we slid a lot. This locks in.I was a little worried that it would be hard to get out since it digs in so well, but like any anchor, if you're directly above it, it lifts right out.
