JewelJewel - Live At Humphrey's By The Bay

I bought this because of a few jewel songs I like. When I got it, I gave it to my wife, because she is a huge Jewel fan. She put it right in the player, and I watched it. Have to say, it was DAMN good. She gets to keep it, of course, but I am definitely more of a Jewel fan after having watched this DVD than before. I would recommend this DVD.

I really like this concert DVD, even though I don't have anything to compare it to. But let me tell you something, this DVD does NOT do a good job of showing what a real Jewel show is like. During a regular Jewel show, she spends 2-5 minutes talking in between every song, which she does not show here. Also, she tells stories about many of the songs, and performs comedy acts. This is a good concert DVD is you are a beginning Jewel fan and you would like to have a taste of what she is like live.BUT, please note that this does not do a good job of representing her live shows. So if you saw this and you decide not to go to one of her shows because you didn't like the DVD, please reconsider. She never plays with a setlist, and the whole show is composed of 95% requests from audience members.Getting back on topic about the actual DVD, the song selection is very poor, and while they did a good job of making sure her hit singles are included, they did not include many other note-worthy performances.In my opinoin, the only thing that makes this DVD worthy of $20, is the special features and a few good performances. But you would definatly be better off seeing her live.

If you like or love Jewel all ready.... GET THIS DVD.... You'll like or love her even MORE!If you've never seen Jewel live in concert....GET THIS DVD....You'll wonder why you didn't get it sooner!!!If you've never really heard Jewel before....GET THIS DVD....You'll want to hear her again!If you don't really like Jewel...You've obviously never really listened to her....GET THIS DVD!If you don't really like Jewel...and you have listened to a couple songs before....obviously, you've only listened to "Who Will Save Your Soul," or possibly, "Hands" or one of her "lullabye's' ..... that doesn't count....AT ALL.... GET THIS DVD....You will feel differently after watching it through one time!!! You will hear the beauty in her voice, the love in her music, and the connection to her stories or words..... It's absolutely MAGIC!!!

Jewel Live in San Diego is an awesome recording that any fan of the amazingly talented singer will love. If you've never had the pleasure of seeing Jewel perform live this is about as close an experience as you can get. She does it all and does it her way. She interacts with the crowd, tells stories, and shows off her amazing voice. She sings acapella, just her and her guitar and backed by her band. Pretty awesome but then I'm vias as I really love her style, sound, and the performer herself :)

I love Jewel. She has such a versatile and accurate voice. Just listen to the end of Break Me -- I doubt that many folk singers could do that. It's fun to see her sing these songs, and to be so relaxed with the audience too. If you're a Jewel fan, don't think, just buy it -- Marketplace has this for < $10.

I just purchased my second version of this dvd because I love mine so much I don't want to lend it out to my friends.I am a little biased because Jewel is by far my favorite singer and this features some of her early works.Definately worth the $$

I can not remember ever hearing Jewel and not loving her. Her distinct voice patterns and the way she tells the story when singing is unmatched. Her voice is beyond sexy and she always leaves me wanting more.

Musikalisch gibt es an der DVD nicht wirklich was auszusetzen, was mich vielmehr stört ist, dass ein Konzert nur eine knappe Stunde läuft.Dazu finde ich die Atmosphäre des ganzen etwas zu steril, da fehlts einfach. Kann am Publikum liegen, an der Verfilmung jedenfalls kommt das bei anderen Künstlern deutlich besser rüber.technisch kommt das Bild zudem teilweise selbst für eine DVD arg grobkörnig rüber, insbesondere einige der Specials sind von der Aufnahmequalität unwürdig.Jewel beweisst hier aber definitiv, dass sie eben nicht nur eine Studiosängerin ist, sondern auch live was kann. Schade dass es mittlerweile sehr still um sie geworden ist.
