My dad bought a Dakota alarm way back for his farm. Might have been one of the first models. Last year he upgraded to a newer model and then passed away. The whole family was used to hearing the ding dong sound when cars came. Now the farm is being sold and the rest of us have moved away and now I'm "the Grandpa." Funny how a simple driveway alarm can make the new place feel a little like the old and remind you of a pretty cool old man who is no longer with us.Installation was easy, mine is only .2 miles away so it works perfect every time. Makes my wife feel better giving her time to look out the window and see who is coming. Our driveway is lined with trees and ditches so there is no driving around the alarm. Thanks Dakota for a great product that we plan to use through our retirement.

I have used Dakota alarms for years. They are built to last and they work very well. This one replaced the unit I owned for 11 years until a lightning strike decided I needed a new one. The sensitivity is easily adjusted. I can get more than one year of operation from the batteries. I built a fake bird house to hide my transmitter. This device gives my wife great peace of mind.

Motion detection systems that use video or IR beams result in too many false alarms. This device performs just as expected. The setup is easy but slightly cumbersome. I installed the system with a total of three receivers. If you don’t set them all at the same time you’ll have to do a lot of walking back and forth from your transmitter and receivers to get the job done. I lucked out and planed a head for my multi receiver setup. Mounting the transmitter and sensor is a breeze. The device seem rugged, it will have to survive the Arizona heat. My receivers are 200 to five hundred feet from the various receivers, all work perfectly. So far no issues. Overall, this Device works perfectly. Cons, it’s a very pricey system, I’d like to get another transmitter/sensor setup, but cost and setup are holding me back. For the price of the system, I would have expected integration with my WiFi System to send me phone notifications.UPDATE:The system had continued to function well through three months of 115 degree heat. It’s been an excellent security system. Then a big lightning storm came around and the transmitter stopped working reliably. But after a few calls to the company, a repair was arranged and within two weeks we had the system up and working again. Excellent company support.I have also interface this unit with my Samsung SmartThings system. So now when the driveway system is triggered, I get a text telling me someone has arrived or departed my property. Plus I have it setup so that SmartThings will turn on outside lights at night if the Dakota system triggers. I love this system’s function and flexibility.

After using infrared driveway detectors for years, I finally got tired of them going off every time a bird flew by. So I bit the bullet and bought this unit. IT IS FANTASTIC! It takes a little work to bury the detector next to your driveway, but once you do, you're set. Pairing was simple and the range is huge; our 400' driveway doesn't bother it at all. And since it detects metal, we won't get false alarms from birds anymore, unless they are wearing armor. (In which case, I probably want the warning.)One tiny issue: there is a rubber latch which holds the transmitter door closed. It is not securely fastened to the unit, and I lost mine in the underbrush when installing it. Be careful to hold on to this when handling the transmitter. But one email to the company and they offered to send me a new latch, free. Can't ask for better customer service.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I have a 500 ft driveway lined with trees and can't see the road from my house. I got this alarm when I was having work done on my home. The contractors were very inconsistent with their arrival, and it was frustrating never knowing when someone would be at my door. With this I didn't have to hover by my front door all day and worry if I had missed them showing up. It's also great for knowing when delivery trucks show up so my packages don't sit out in the rain.

We followed a review video to set this up. It works great & is light years better than MM. Also way more expensive than MM.
