Paint the ones you already have
I like Armstrong tiles, in general. The while ones we typically use are perfect. I can't say the same for these black tiles. The black color is not throughout the tile - it is a brittle paint covering. Most corners were crushed and paint chipped off during shipping. When trying to cut to fit, paint would crack off in chunks if cutting like you normally would for ceiling tiles - which required us to take more time cutting in order to keep more tiles useable. It also didn't take much to create cracks or chips in the center of the tiles (some happened while shipping) and it was very difficult to match paint (in-store color matching doesn't work). I contacted the company about getting paint sent to me and they never followed up or shipped any. I had to use a local artist to mix paints to match. While installing, hands needed to be cleaned after every tile or two or tile dust from cut ends would cause fingerprints on black surface. Using wet rags caused further chipping of the paint and smeared dust into ridges. Bristle brushes didn't get dust off. Foam brushes took off fingerprints but really just spread the dust out around the tile - this was our best option other than using clean hands for every tile.Save yourself the hassle and paint tiles you already have cut to fit. Even for a new ceiling: buy white tiles, cut to fit, take them back down and spray paint with an easier to clean paint, and any marks made during installation... you already have matching paint! No kidding - this will take less time than using Armstrong's black tiles.

They look like used tiles..
Not extremely pleased with these. 1: the quality of these tiles looks like they are 2nd hand. It looks like they were tiles taken out of my ceiling. All edges are frayed, and packaging was terrible.2: ALL tiles were damaged in shipping as you can see in the picture. Damaged areas show a different color making it very easy to see the damaged spots.3: The surface area that is not damaged looks ok. That's about the only good part.4: Last but not least these tiles have a very strong smell. My whole basement smells like chemical after unboxing. I'm trying to use a fan to clear the air but we'll see how that goes.I would not recommend these tiles for your project.

SPRAY PAINT????
I'm really disappointed with the quality of the panels. I'm more disappointed with how the color is applied. They spray painted the black. Any damage to the panels brings out the white. Panels show signs of damage when I opened the boxes.
