I bought this book because I wanted to expand my wood finishing horizon beyond simply applying a topcoat of polyurethane. Also, I like woodworking and hate finishing so the subtitle sealed the deal. I found that some of the products she cites are fairly hard to find especially the Mohawk products. Also, you may go broke performing all the exercises in the book and experimenting with the various procedures. Of course, this is assuming you even have the time. But the most valuable part for me was the chapter on finishing recipes for various wood types using stains, dyes, and oils. I had two projects that used cherry and quarter sawn white oak and the suggested recipes helped me immensely. There is a wealth of information contained within the book, is clearly written, and easy to follow. I highly recommend this book with just one caveat - I still hate to finish!

I purchased this book as an assist for a class I was taking on how to complete and finish my projects in wood. I’ve read the book And was still confused. I believe my confusion was because I was such a novice at any of these products.After listening to my instructor I can now review though the book photos and descriptions to figure out my next step.Without the book I would not be as confident as I am

Very interesting approach with what appear to be good practical recipes for various finishes without all of the deep theoretical discussion. Looking forward to using this book in my shop.

This book is a priceless tool with the amount of information it holds. I would recommend it to anyone who works with wood.

Great read. Very practical help for fast tracking one’s education in furniture finishing.

Proper wood finishing is a complex process. This book compiles a lot of information in a format that is clear and thorough. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the title is a little misleading in that it seemed to me to suggest easy/quick ways to finish, but most of the processes are fairly involved. The processes presented are excellent for producing an outstanding result. The bottom line is there is no quick and easy way to do proper wood finishing on fine work. This book is an excellent resource for accomplishing just that.

Excellent book for anyone wanting to learn wood finishing, the lady who wrote this book is one of the top wood finishers in the country.
