Great gift
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son who is 10. He opened it, as his one gift, on Christmas Eve. I had heard a lot of skepticism from friends who had purchased other brands of planetariums. However, this is awesome. We sat it on his dresser and, even though we have low ceilings, you can see the stars and what not very well, almost perfectly. He was able to point out places in the Star Wars Galaxy as well as stars and constellations from our own galaxy. It was pretty easy to assemble, only difficult to get the screws and lightbulbs out of the packaging. I am sure he will have a great time with this.

Highlight of the birthday!
We bought this item partly as a gift and partly as a cake topper for our son's birthday cake. It couldn't have been more perfect. It saved me from a ton of detail work on fondant and our son couldn't be more thrilled with this in his room. He has had a fear of the dark and this is the perfect way to fix it. He thinks it is "the best thing ever" to have the Death Star in his room. He sleeps so much better now.I was nervous after reading some of the other reviews but we are totally happy with our purchase and have loved it.

my daughter FLIPPED out when she opened this
She's a huge Star Wars fan so this was a big "win" for Christmas. The light and batteries are pretty easy to install. It really lights up a room at night. The only negative is the black, Star Wars universe view. That was a bit cheap and hard to read. The lid of the Death Star is difficult for kids to put on but that's just the nature of this construction, I think.

Another shipped with no bulb, bulb impossible to find (literally)
We ordered this as a gift from Santa for my 8 year old. When we opened it on Christmas Eve to assemble it, we found there was no bulb included in the box (we looked in every nook and cranny of everything in the box, there was no bulb shipped.)Well, Santa doesn't deliver incomplete toys, so we made up a lie to tell my 8 year old. We told him I took it apart to see how it worked and I broke the bulb. So far he's only cried three times about it, but I expect more next time the subject comes up.We expected to be able to go buy a bulb the day after Christmas, because the instructions say "Replacement bulbs are available at most electronics retailers." That statement is a flat out lie. We've called Radio Shack, Batteries Plus, Marvin Electronics, Home Depot, Lowe's, 5 Ma-and-Pa hobby shops, 3 camera stores, and searched over a dozen lightbulb websites to no avail. The instructions say the bulb should be "Halogen bulb, 3V, Current 400mA." After hours of searching by phone and web, I've come to the conclusion that no such bulb exists. Calling the number on the box for Uncle Milton multiple times, I've yet to find a way to get a human being on the line. Emailing them results in no reply other than an automated response. No human responds. Don't buy this piece of junk from this utterly inept company.

Great way to see the stars
We gave this as a gift and before they could get home he had it opened. My son loved it so much he wanted one for him self. They thought it was cool because it was Star Wars, I thought it was cool because they were learning about the stars. It is not going to give you clear detail, but it will give you a little light in a dark room and something fun to look at.

Okay
I bought this for my boys new StarWars room, I bought it used, but I was not expecting it to not include the lightbulbs. After searching the Internet for replacement bulbs, to which I never found any available, I decided to use a spare Christmas light bulb in it and it worked, I just straightened out the wires on the Christmas light, and carefully lined them up with the holes on the Death Star and pushed it securely into place. I saw several people complaining about not being able to get a replacement bulb, so maybe this will help them out also. We haven't used it in a darkened room, yet but I will update my review when we do.

No bulb and a hassle to find one!
My son was so excited to get this for his birthday. We've been looking for a map of the Star Wars Galaxy. The box showed 3 batteries were needed so I had them on hand.mi knew he'd want to use it right away the night of his birthday. When I opened the box to put it together the instructions showed a halogen 3V pronged light bulb needed. It seems it was supposed to come with one or two but there were zero in our box. My son was so disappointed. I've been to Radio Shack and a hardware store and no one carries this very specialty bulb. It is not even carried on Amazon to order. I now have to search further to figure out where to get this light bulb. Seems like a great toy but we'll see if we ever get to use it! What a Hassle!
