Spitfire

This was, in vinyl LP, my first exposure to Jefferson Starship back in... well, before some of you were born! I liked it then and I like it now. Nearly all of my old records have since been replaced with CD's but for some reason this one was a very long time coming out in CD.I still have the phono album because of its beautiful cover.As for the music, this and "Spitfire" are in my opinion the best of Jefferson Starship.

Can't go wrong with first four Starship recordings! Of the four, this one displays the most energy. Grace does not quite hit her Dragonfly, Earth, and Red Octopus efforts, but the rest of the band is firing!

Wow, what a wild album !!!! Really talented musicians and a voice by Grace Slick that'll take you on a trip along the astral plane. Pavul Kantner's soothing binaural voice will torque your creation into the space/time continuum while Marty Balin soars and lullabies. Really fantastic stuff !!

Abosultly love it. Was a gift for my husband and he was very happy with it.

Some of my favorite music is Jefferson Airplane, but the early Starship discs are good as well. If you like Airplane, Starship does lack a little of that San Fransisco sound, but Spitfire, and Dragonfly are well worth the money. It is not Airplane, but it is material that should be in any rock music collection.

If you remember listening to music like this on an LP, there's good news. CD's don't have the crackle and pop sounds of LP's and are still available!
