The Joyous Recovery: A New Approach to Emotional Healing and Wellness

Wonderful, Revolutionary New Approach for Healing Emotional Pain. For Everyone!
Lundy Bancroft is extremely insightful and has the ability to understand, empathize and guide people who are suffering from traumatic experiences to the road to clarity and healing. I have read all of Lundy’s other books and have given them as gifts to others as no other writer compares in terms of being able to actually help a reader move from a place of confusion and suffering to a place of clarity. Reading his books, a road to healing appears out of the forest of confusion the reader has been living in, and guides the reader along this path to a place of clarity, peace and joyous recovery. This book is unlike his previous books in that it is not geared specifically toward people dealing with abusive relationships, but is designed to help people heal from whatever trauma they have experienced, large or small. The book outlines a set of therapeutic techniques designed to be followed between two individuals or within a support group, which help a person experience a cathartic release of the emotions trapped below the surface due to various traumas. This book is for Everyone! None of us is exempt from trauma. Some trauma is minor compared to other trauma but none of us has skipped along through life without some some disappointment, small or large, creating some pain in our hearts. That is the human experience. Lundy has been practicing this form of Co-Counseling for years and shares with the readers these specific techniques, easily be followed by layperson or professional, to connect with another individual and provide a way towards true healing. This book is a gift to the world.

Refreshing
It's nice to see an author acknowledging that we can't ignore our whole selves. Being autistic, and having worked with kids, I find society doesn't encourage us to be mindful of what we're doing right, or that some of our "useless" actually are means of self regulating. Definitely recommending this to anyone I feel needs it.

So empowering!
Lundy Bancrofts writings have and continue to benefit me greatly in healing from an abusive marriage. “Why does he do that” gave me so much clarity and I’ve passed around my copy to probably 10 other women. The joyous recovery is an empowering and beautiful journey to taking your life back.

Maybe there is hope
This book is an excellent guide for those who are targeted by abuse and for those who want to support them.

Disappointed
I loved his last 2 books and this one was disappointing. I felt like it was a 300 page sales pitch to a group of people who are especially vulnerable and looking for answers. For someone with trauma it isn’t always “safe” to trust stories with strangers especially if you have a past of being manipulated by them. I was really let down bc the author seemed to use trust built in the first 2 books to get buy in for his website. I felt let down and would recommend spending this money on a book that is truly focused on healing.

Just started reading and loving it already
Been waiting for the release of this e-book. Listened to the recording of a talk Lundy Bancroft gave in May (2019) discussing concepts from this book and loved what he had to say. Not a surprise as I found his previous books incredibly insightful. Just stated reading this book and loving it already. Appreciate the work he does and the wisdom he shares so much.

Felt a little "Sales Pitch"Y
I adore this author, his opinions and views. I enjoyed this book but was a little disappointing after reading "Why does he do that". I felt like this book was a sales pitch for his website. The website was referenced way too many times. I felt it was less authentic then his previous work. It was a slow read and especially in comparison to his other work.
