The Rose Doctor: A Key for Diagnosing Problems in the Rose Garden

Gets you acquainted to the issues to look out for quickly (good for novice)
UPDATE: This book showed its worth while I was picking up a nice looking rose at Lowe's. I noticed a small weird growth at the base and said to myself "that looks like the thing in the book I saw" and sure enough, it was crown gall so it's going back to Lowe's! Had I not had this book? I would have planted and pruned it and watched the disease migrate across the yard. (Of course maybe it's not super lethal but its ugly and no treatment so why bother? It's a bad disease for younger plants).ARS recommended this book as a "must have" but the solutions are lacking. The last pages of the book have links that you have to type in perfectly to get to the internet page. Since it's not his own website URLs, these links may be taken down at any point. I suppose there will always be an agricultural office at the universities that study each disease so you may need to read those pages to find good solutions.

Since many types of rose pestilence can present similar visual effects, this book is vital in finding the culprit. Being comprehensive, it gives the grower a step by step process to find the cause of any rose problem. To treat and prevent, one must know the real cause.
